Abstract: Intelligent switching of audio sources includes determining, via a computer processor communicatively coupled to an audio system in a vehicle, alternative sources of content that are communicatively available to the vehicle. The audio system renders an instance of a content item that has been received from a content provider, as a source of content, over a network. Upon determining an interruption in a signal from the content provider with respect to the instance of the content item, the intelligent switching of audio sources also includes presenting an alternative content item, through the audio system, from one of the alternative sources of content.

Abstract: A system for providing updates in a vehicle includes a server device configured for providing an OTA campaign update and the vehicle. The vehicle includes a device including software to be upgraded by the over-the-air campaign update and a low voltage battery providing low voltage power. The system further includes a battery providing high voltage power and an accessory power module configured to transform the high voltage power into low voltage power and including programming to estimate an available power of the low voltage battery. The system further includes a controller monitoring the available power, comparing the available power to a threshold, and, when the available power is less than the threshold, commanding the accessory power module to transform the high voltage power to provide the low voltage electrical power. The controller further schedules receiving the update based upon the available power and updates the device with the update.

Abstract: A method of operating a mobile communication system of a motor vehicle is provided for initiating a voice call with a third party. The system includes an ECU, and the ECU includes a controller and a memory storing computer code. The method includes the steps of: (a) initiating a timer; (b) operating the ECU in a first mode in which the ECU attempts to engage in a VoNR call via a first network; (c) repeating step (b) within a predetermined amount of time until the ECU successfully engages in the VoNR call; and (d) operating the ECU in a second mode to attempt to engage in a VoLTE call via a second network in response to the controller determining that the ECU in the first mode did not successfully engage in the VoNR call within a predetermined amount of time.

The method includes predicting, using machine learning, quality of service (QoS) metrics of the available networks along a trip of a vehicle and selecting a one or more networks from the list of available networks for one or more in-vehicle network devices based constraint solving on the predicted QoS metrics of the list available networks and QoS constraints.

Abstract: A system for multi-mode connectivity for group vehicle activity and for over-the-air updates via time synchronized device-to-device side-link communications is provided. The system includes a remote communication device configured to transmit data, vehicles to receive the data, and a computerized controller. The controller includes programming to analyze hardware of the vehicles to identify alpha vehicles including excellent wireless capabilities, monitor signal strength between the vehicles and the remote communication device to identify vehicles including relatively strong communication strength, and determine a portion of the plurality of vehicles including highly functioning vehicles including the capabilities and communication strength. The controller generates a series of data transfers to first transfer the data from the remote communication device a highly functioning vehicle and subsequently transfer the data from the highly functioning vehicle to a second of the vehicles and transfers the data. The highly functioning vehicle retransmits the data to the second vehicle.
