    摘要: The present invention relates to means and methods for altering the level of at least one of the aromatic amino acids phenylalanine, tryptophan and tyrosine and secondary metabolites in plants. Particularly, the present invention discloses transgenic plants comprising polynucleotides encoding chorismate mutase and prephenate dehydratase enzymes, having elevated amounts of at least one of phenylalanine, tyrosine and modified amount of at least one secondary metabolite derived therefrom, and reduced amount of tryptophan and at least one secondary metabolite derived from tryptophan.

    摘要: The invention relates to the field of genetic engineering of flavor, fragrance and biocontrol agent development. More specifically it relates to a process for production of natural flavors, fragrances or bio-control agents by the control of one or more genes implicated in that process. The invention provides an isolated or recombinant nucleic acid or functional fragment thereof encoding a proteinaceous molecule essentially capable of flavor, fragrance and/or bio-control agent synthesis when provided with a suitable substrate under appropriate reaction conditions. Provided are transgenic crop plants comprising integrated in their genome a chimeric gene, characterized by said chimeric gene comprising a transcription regulatory sequence active in plant cells operably linked to a nucleic acid sequence encoding a protein having the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3 or a protein at least 70% identical to SEQ ID NO: 3, or an ortholog protein or a functional fragment thereof. In addition to enhanced drought tolerance the transgenic plants may show enhanced disease resistance and enhanced root structure.
