    摘要: An organic electronic device has an improved contrast ratio by lowering background luminescence from ambient radiation source(s). Background luminescence may be lowered by increasing absorption of ambient radiation, by reducing reflection of ambient radiation, or a combination of the two. Lower background luminescence can be achieved by using one or more black layers or lattices that are incorporated within the organic electronic device. Also, a large number of materials can be used for high absorbance layers. A change in materials for the electronic device may not be needed, and therefore, new material compatibility issues may not arise. Further, from an electronic performance standpoint, some layers may not be too sensitive to thickness and a plurality of narrow ranges of thicknesses may be used for a layer to allow a layer to have the proper electrical and optical properties. The embodiments obviate the need for a circular polarizer.

    摘要: An organic electronic device includes electronic components within an array. In one embodiment, the organic electronic device includes a substrate and a first conductive member overlying the substrate and lying at least partly within the array. The first conductive member is at least part of a first power transmission line. The organic electronic device further includes a second conductive member overlying the substrate and lying at least partly within the array. The second conductive member is at least part of a first electrode and is electrically connected to the first conductive member. In another embodiment, an organic active layer has at least a portion lying between the first and second conductive members. In yet another embodiment, a process for using an organic electronic device including an array of radiation-emitting components allows radiation to be emitted from the array at an intensity of at least 1100 cd/m2.

    摘要: A multi-color pixel array and method includes an organic active layer of a material emitting a first spectral distribution of visible light having a first color; a transparent conducting layer, each of which include portions that correspond to individual pixels and sub-pixels of the array; one or more pairs of electrodes for selectively energizing sub-pixel areas of the organic active layer to generate an emission of visible light of a first spectral distribution; wherein different sub-pixels within individual pixels of the array have different optical thicknesses based at least on corresponding sub-pixel portions of the transparent conducting layer having different optical thicknesses; and wherein at least one sub-pixel of has a selected color different from the first color due to at least one narrowed spectral band being selected out of the first spectral distribution as emitted light is coupled out of the display through the transparent conducting layer.
