摘要: Waterborne polyurethane dispersions are prepared by reacting (1) at least one polyisocyanate; (2) at least one active hydrogen containing compound, such as a polyol or a polyamide; and (3) preferably also at least one water-dispersability enhancing compound having water-dispersion enhancing groups, in order to form an isocyanate terminated prepolymer. The prepolymer subsequently is (1) optionally neutralized by reaction with at least one neutralizing agent, (2) dispersed in water, and then (3) chain extended by reaction with at least one of water, inorganic or organic polyamine having an average of about 2 or more primary and/or secondary amine groups, or combinations thereof. At least one plasticizer is introduced into the reaction mixture at any time during prepolymer formation or before the prepolymer is dispersed in water. The plasitcizer substantially or completely replaces other organic diluents or solvents. Various types of plasticizers may be employed, including reactive plasticizers.

摘要: The present invention relates to hydrolytically stable multi-purpose polymers that are polymerized from a monomer mixture comprising: at least one amino-substituted meth(acrylate) (ASMA) monomer or salt thereof; and at least one nonionic vinyl (NIV) monomer, wherein the monomer mixture optionally comprises one or more of at least one vinyl associative (VA) monomer; at least one vinyl surfactant (VS) monomer; and/or at least one polymerizable silicone macromer (PSM) and wherein the monomer mixture further optionally comprises one or more of at least one crosslinking (XL) monomer; at least one chain transfer agent (CTA); and/or at least one polymeric stabilizer. The multi-purpose polymers of the present invention can also be prepared from monomer mixtures containing chain transfer agents or other functional components commonly utilized in polymerization process.

摘要: The present invention relates to hair care and personal care compositions which contain an acrylic copolymer which is polymerized in the presence of at least two different classes of crosslinking monomers. The polymer functions both as a fixative/film former and a thickening agent for hair styling and personal care compositions in which it is contained. The copolymer exhibits advantageous fixative, film forming and rheological gel properties.

摘要: Disclosed are multi-staged acrylic based core-shell polymers comprising a linear core polymer and at least one subsequently polymerized shell polymer. At least one of the subsequently polymerized shell polymers is crosslinked. The core-shell polymers surprisingly provide desirable rheological, clarity, and aesthetic properties in aqueous surfactant containing compositions, particularly at low pH. The multi-staged acrylic base core-shell polymers can be included in at least one phase of a multi-phase personal care, home care, health care, and institutional and industrial care composition to impart phase stability thereto.

摘要: Disclosed are multi-purpose polymers that are the polymerization product of a monomer mixture comprising at least one amino-substituted vinyl monomer; at least one nonionic vinyl monomer; at least one associative vinyl monomer; at least one semihydrophobic vinyl surfactant monomer; and, optionally, comprising one or more hydroxy-substituted nonionic vinyl monomer, crosslinking monomer, chain transfer agent or polymeric stabilizer. These vinyl addition polymers have a combination of substituents, including amino substituents that provide cationic properties at low pH, hydrophobic substituents, hydrophobically modified polyoxyalkylene substituents, and hydrophilic polyoxyalkylene substituents. The polymers provide surprisingly beneficial rheological properties in acidic aqueous compositions, and are compatible with cationic materials. The multi-purpose polymers are useful in a variety of products for personal care, health care, household care, institutional and industrial care, and industrial applications.

摘要: Thiocarbonate compounds which, in one embodiment, are utilized as a rheology modifier or associative thickener. The thiocarbonate compounds thicken or increase the viscosity of a composition, preferably an aqueous composition when used in an effective amount. In one preferred embodiment, the thiocarbonate compounds include at least one hydrophilic group containing repeat unit such as derived from acrylic acid, and at least one hydrophobic group to enhance association with other compounds and thus increase viscosity of a composition. Aqueous composition comprising a latex and thiocarbonate associative thickeners are described.

摘要: Disclosed are aqueous hair setting compositions comprising, as the sole hair fixative component, rheology modifying, hair setting, associative polymers (RMHS), which are the polymerization product of a monomer mixture comprising an acidic vinyl monomer; and an associative monomer. The hair setting compositions provide surprisingly good to excellent hair setting efficacy, based on high humidity curl retention. A wide range of rheological characteristics was achieved together with good clarity and aesthetic product properties. Particularly preferred rheology modifying hair setting associative polymers are certain hydrophobically modified alkali-swellable and alkali-soluble associative polymers (ASAP) and HASE polymers disclosed herein. Also disclosed are methods of setting hair using RMHS polymer-containing compositions.
