Abstract:
The present invention relates to replication competent variants of mammalian immunodeficiency virus comprising mutations and/or deletions of the V3 hypervariable loop and compensatory mutations, as well as methods for producing such variants. The invention also relates to V3-loop deletion mammalian immunodeficiency virus mutants that have compensatory mutations, deletions of the V1/V2 loops, or both. The invention further relates to isolated Env, gp120 polypeptides, and gp41 polypeptides comprising novel mutations useful in conjunction with, or separate from, a virus of the invention, as well as nucleic acids encoding the same.
Abstract:
A misfire detection system and method for onboard diagnosis of engine performance detects an engine speed as a function of a rotational angle of the crankshaft, and determines crankshaft acceleration as a function of this angle based on the detected engine speed. In this manner, the power stroke acceleration of each cylinder is determined and ranked. After excluding the greatest acceleration, the accelerations of a group of consecutively ordered cylinders including the second greatest acceleration are averaged to produce an assessment level against which the remaining lower-ranked cylinders are evaluated to detect misfires.
Abstract:
An FEP pellet having a volatile content of 0.2% by weight or less. The FEP pellet satisfies the following requirements (i) and (ii) when used to form a insulating material coating a core wire by extrusion coating at a coating speed of 2,800 ft/min.: (i) an adhesive strength between the insulating material and said core wire of 0.8 kg or more; and (ii) an average number of cone-breaks in the insulating material of one or less per 50,000 feet of the coated core wire.
Abstract:
The present disclosure includes a method for monitoring leaks in a wafer process chamber. The method includes providing a wafer process chamber coupled to a gas supply by a gas supply line, wherein an indicator member is coupled to the gas supply line between the gas supply and the wafer process chamber, and a final valve is located on the gas supply line between the gas supply and the indicator member. A gas is supplied from the gas supply to the wafer process chamber through the gas supply line. A light is emitted and directed through the indicator member. The light that was directed through the indicator member is then reflected using a reflecting member. The reflected light is then received and compared to the light emitted in order to determine that the color of the indicator member has changed and a leak has been detected in the gas supply line.

Novel compositions useful as influenza immunogens are provided. The compositions enable a host response to immunogen sites normally not recognized by a host.
Abstract:
An exhaust system is provided having an exhaust path configured to direct an exhaust stream away from an engine. The system may also include an exhaust treatment device in the exhaust path and configured to act on one or more substances in the exhaust stream. Further, the system may include at least one temperature sensing device configured to provide an output indicative of a temperature at one or more locations on a working material of the exhaust treatment device. In addition, the system may include a controller configured to generate a temperature map of the working material of the exhaust treatment device and to determine deviations from an expected temperature map.
Abstract:
A method of producing a semi-transparent type LCD panel provides an LCD panel with reflected light transmitting through a transmissive portion of a passivation layer having the same color density. The semi-transparent type LCD panel mainly comprises a transparent substrate, a first transparent conductive layer, a first alignment layer, a liquid crystal layer, a second alignment layer, a second transparent conductive layer, a color filter layer, a passivation layer, and a TFT array substrate. A reflection layer is formed on a portion of the passivation layer. The area of the passivation layer not covered with the reflection layer is etched to a certain depth. The passivation layer has two different levels of thickness so as to allow reflected transmitting lights to be of the same color density.
Abstract:
An inclined detector comprises: a detector body provided with an interior containing space including a lower alcove which is funnel-shaped; a pair of detection components including a transmitting component and a receiving component, wherein, the transmitting component is used to transmit a first signal which goes through the said containing space of the detector body, and the receiving component is used to receive the first signal transmitted by the transmitting component; and a ball disposed in the containing space of the detector body, wherein the ball stays at the bottom center of the lower alcove of the containing space when in a static state. By such arrangements, when the detector body is inclined to make the ball leave the former place where the ball is when in a static state, the receiving component will transmit a second signal for controlling after receiving the first signal transmitted by the transmitting component.
Abstract:
A system and method for mapping a combined frequency division duplexing (FDD) Time Division Multiplexing (TDM)/Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) downlink subframe for use with half-duplex and full-duplex terminals in a communication system. Embodiments of the downlink subframe vary Forward Error Correction (FEC) types for a given modulation scheme as well as support the implementation of a smart antennae at a base station in the communication system. Embodiments of the system are also used in a TDD communication system to support the implementation of smart antennae. A scheduling algorithm allows TDM and TDMA portions of a downlink to efficiently co-exist in the same downlink subframe and simultaneously support full and half-duplex terminals. The algorithm further allows the TDM of multiple terminals in a TDMA burst to minimize the number of map entries in a downlink map. The algorithm limits the number of downlink map entries to not exceed 2n+1, where n is the number of DL PHY modes (modulation/FEC combinations) employed by the communication system.
