摘要: Surface-mountable conductive polymer electronic devices include at least one conductive polymer active layer laminated between upper and lower electrodes. Upper and lower insulation layers, respectively, sandwich the upper and lower electrodes. First and second planar conductive terminals are formed on the lower insulation layer. First and second cross-conductors are provided by plated through-hole vias, whereby the cross-conductors connect each of the electrodes to one of the terminals. Certain embodiments include two or more active layers, arranged in a vertically-stacked configuration and electrically connected by the cross-conductors and electrodes in parallel. Several embodiments include at least one cross-conductor having a chamfered or beveled entry hole through the upper insulation layer to provide enhanced adhesion between the cross-conductor and the insulation layer. Several methods for manufacturing the present surface-mountable conductive polymer electronic devices are also provided.

摘要: A system for providing a safety barrier around a work area on a high-rise structure includes at least one vertical rail detachably connected to the structure. The system also includes a safety screen assembly detachably connected to the structure. The system further includes an adjustment mechanism operable to translate the vertical rail(s) and safety screen assembly relative to the structure at appropriate times. 摘要: A method and system which provides communication between a first portable device and a second portable device. The first portable device stores a first sequence number and a first key, and the second portable device stores a second sequence number and a second key. Verification is performed using the first and second keys. The first sequence number is compared to the second sequence number. If the second sequence number is newer than the first sequence number, the first sequence number is set to have a value of the second sequence number if the verification succeeds. If the first sequence number is newer than the second sequence number, the second sequence number is set to have a value of the first sequence number if verification succeeds.

摘要: An apparatus and method for determining an expanded diameter of a catheter balloon. An optical sensor includes an elongated optical fiber with at least one diffraction grating formed in a core of a distal portion thereof. The fiber distal portion is coupled to the inflatable balloon. Broadband light is transmitted to the diffraction grating by an optical interrogator. A portion of the light is reflected from the diffraction grating and is received by a wavelength detector. The wavelength of the reflected portion of light is dependent on the strain applied to the diffraction grating. The wavelength detector determines the strain in the balloon and correlates the strain to the diameter of the balloon.

摘要: Environmentally friendly, high performance coating formulations and methods for their preparation are described. The coating formulations can be prepared as aqueous dispersions. The aqueous dispersions include a plurality of multiphase polymer particles and a C8-C18 alkyl alcohol alkoxylated phosphate ester surfactant. The multiphase particles include an acrylic-based copolymer derived from one or more (meth)acrylate monomers and at least one copolymerizable surfactant. Optionally, the acrylic-based copolymer is further derived from one or more acid monomers, one or more amide monomers, and/or one or more molecular weight regulators. Further described herein are products prepared from the aqueous dispersions, such as for high gloss and satin paint compositions, that can have a low VOC content.

摘要: The present invention relates to systems and methods for controlled combustion of gaseous pollutants while reducing and removing deposition of unwanted reaction products from within the treatment systems. The systems employ a two-stage thermal reactor having an upper thermal reactor including at least one inlet for mixing a gaseous waste stream with oxidants and combustible fuels for thermal combustion within the upper thermal reactor. The upper thermal reactor further includes a double wall structure having an outer exterior wall and an interior porous wall that defines an interior space for holding a fluid and ejecting same, in a pulsating mode, through the interior porous wall into the upper thermal reactor to reduce deposition of the reaction products on the interior of the upper reactor chamber. The two-stage thermal reactor further includes a lower reactor chamber for flowing reaction products formed in the upper thermal reactor through a water vortex that provides a water overflow along the interior of the lower reactor chamber thereby reducing deposition of unwanted products on the interior surface of the lower reactor.

摘要: A formulation of phenyloin suitable for topical application to a wound comprises a reservoir of phenyloin entrapped within a stabilising matrix, and an amount of dissolved phenyloin, wherein the dissolved phenyloin is in chemical equilibrium with the phenyloin entrapped within the stabilised matrix. The stabilised matrix may comprise a gel matrix, especially a gel matrix in which the polymer of the gel forms ion-pairs with the phenyloin. Also described are methods of treating a wound in diabetic and non-diabetic patients using a formulation according to the invention.
