摘要: An opto-electronic semiconductor element has a radiation emitting or receiving, that is, radiation active semiconductor chip secured to an electrically conductive base frame. One, or a plurality of chips, are surrounded by a housing which may be integral with or have, separately, a cover. All materials of the housing, as well as of the conductive base frame, have mutually matching thermal coefficients of expansion within the temperature ranges which arise during manufacture and in application of the semiconductive element, singly or as a plurality in a common housing. Glass, quartz glass, ceramic or glass ceramic are suitable for the housing or parts thereof; the conductive base frame is preferably made of cladded or jacketed copper wire or strip with an iron-nickel core. Assembling a plurality of chips in a housing which has a luminescence conversion layer, e.g. a phosphor applied thereto, permits construction of a flat light source.

摘要: A process and apparatus for solvent extraction of fat from a sample. The ple is held in a thimble located in a sample vessel. The sample vessel holds solvent in which the sample is initially immersed. The solvent is vaporized by a heating unit and condenses on a cooling coil above the sample vessel. The condensed solvent is caught in a funnel equipped with a drain line leading to an external solvent collection vessel. A timer controlled valve opens and closes the drain line. The fat extraction process includes a boiling phase during which the valve is closed so that the condensed solvent overflows the funnel and returns to the sample vessel, a solvent level lowering phase during which the valve is open to direct solvent to the collection vessel until the solvent level in the sample vessel is below the sample, a washing phase during which the valve is closed to cause the condensed solvent to overflow the funnel and drip onto the sample, and a solvent recovery phase during which the valve is pen to direct the solvent to the collection vessel.

摘要: An arrangement for carrier recovery of two pulse shift keyed signals comprising a bandpass filter at the input which is followed by a series connection of a full-wave rectifier, a carrier frequency filter and a frequency divider is particularly characterized in that the input signal is converted into a push-pull signal in a transformer and employed for driving an emitter-coupled amplifier, two pairs of emitter-coupled transistors being connected in series between the input and a pair of operational amplifiers. A first of the operational amplifiers is connected to a voltage controlled oscillator. Its output is connected to a first frequency divider, the first frequency divider being connected to a further frequency divider for a further division of two for connection to a demodulator which receives the input signal. The second operational amplifier generates a control signal which is fed, by way of a filter section, to a field effect transistor as a part of a variable resistor connected in the input circuit for controlling the output voltages of the second pair of emitter-coupled transistors which feed the two operational amplifiers.

摘要: A laboratory pump (1) for liquids has a pump housing (2) with an inlet opening (3) and an outlet opening (4) and in which at least one pump rotor (5) rotates. The pump rotor (5) is joined either directly or indirectly by means of a transmission with a magnet (6), which is magnetically coupled with a rotating magnetic field of a magnetic stirrer (8). In addition, the pump housing (2) of the pump (1) can be joined with the magnetic stirrer (8) in such a way that the magnet (6) comes under the influence range of the rotating magnetic field of the magnetic stirrer (8) and is driven by it. The pump has no driving means of its own, and therefore can be designed in an especially simple way. Magnetic stirrers (8) present in laboratories can be used for driving the pump (1), and thus obtain an additional function.

摘要: A fluid pressure operated piston engine assembly, such as a pump assembly, including a fluid pressure operated piston engine and a fluid valve for coupling fluid under pressure to alternative portions of the piston chamber of the piston engine. As disclosed, as the drive shaft of the piston engine approaches each end of its stroke, fluid under pressure is coupled by the fluid valve to a portion of the piston chamber to effect reversal of direction of travel of the drive shaft. The fluid valve includes a valve rod which is translated to effect the alternative modes of coupling pressurized fluid to the piston chamber. To accomplish this a drive frame is mounted for limited translation on the valve rod and driven by a pair of pins, attached to the piston engine drive shaft, at the ends of the drive shaft stroke. The drive frame carries a pair of flat springs having contoured portions bearing against a drive block attached to the valve rod, and as the drive shaft approaches each end of its stroke the pins engage the drive frame so that the springs co-act with the drive block to "snap" the valve rod to the alternative valve position.

摘要: Ultraviolet (UV) radiation in the UV-C and UV-B bands, which is particularly dangerous, is absorbed and filtered by quartz glass doped with between 0.065% and 3.25%, and preferably between 0.065% and 1.3% by weight, of cerium metal, or cerium as such. Preferably, the cerium is added to quartz sand and/or rock crystal, in form of a fine-grained powder of up to 2 0 .mu.m grain size, in form of cerium aluminate (CeAlO.sub.3), present in up to about 5% by weight, and preferably up to about 2%, and melted together in a single step. The quartz glass so obtained is particularly suitable for a metal halide discharge lamp, e.g. as an outer envelope (1), or as the discharge vessel (27) itself, or for halogen incandescent lamps, to form the quartz-glass light bulb or an envelope therefor. A small quantity of titanium oxide, up to about 0.05%, may be added as a further doping agent to the melt to further improve the UV absorption in the B and C bands.
