A data-processing machine having a single operator station is provided with a printer comprising a supply holder on the front of the machine next to the operator station for holding a form band, a support on the machine next to the station with an upwardly concave surface, and a receptacle on the back of the machine below the support for catching the printed form band. A guide and a transport device is provided for guiding the band up from the supply holder in the front of the machine, over the surface of the printing station and down to the receptacle. A printing head which is vertically displaceable above the upwardly concave surface is displaceable horizontally along the surface to print the band. A guide slot extending down toward the supply is pivotal between a down position for normal operation of the machine and a raised position for threading a new form band in and a detent is provided for holding it in the up position during reloading. In addition, a magnetic-card printer is provided on the machine adjacent the operator station. Feelers engageable with the band detect when it runs out and emit an alarm for the operator.

A description is given of superconducting substances having a content of Bi, Sr, Ca and Cu, and of processes for their preparation from the metal oxides within a range which is specified by the overall composition Bi.sub.a (Sr,Ca).sub.b -Cu.sub.6 O.sub.x, where a=3-24 and b=3.23-24, with an Sr/Ca atomic ratio of 1:9-9:1 and a Bi:(Ca+Sr) atomic ratio of 0.3-1.5. The transition temperature is at least 60 K. The principal phase crystallizes in the orthorhombic system. The pure compounds Bi.sub.4 (Sr,Ca).sub.4 Cu.sub.2 O.apprxeq..sub.12 and Bi.sub.4 (Sr,Ca).sub.6 Cu.sub.4 O.apprxeq..sub.20.

The invention relates to an oxide-ceramic superconducting material which contains bismuth, strontium, calcium and copper, having an overall composition of Bi.sub.y Ca.sub.2 Sr.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.x, where y is an integer from 2.35 to 2.6 and x is about 10 to 12. The material has a critical temperature T above 105 K and has a proportion of the phase Bi.sub.2 Sr.sub.2 Ca.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.x of at least 85% by volume. The invention also relates to a process for producing a bismuth-containing superconducting material which comprises holding the oxides or oxide precursors of bismuth, strontium, calcium and copper at a temperature in the range from 850.degree. to 890.degree. C. over a time span of a plurality of hours and adhering to the following atomic ratios:Bi:Cu>2:3Ca:Sr=0.9 to 1.50.SIGMA.(Sr+Ca):Cu=4.2:3 to 4:3.33Bi:.SIGMA.(Sr+Ca)=2.35:4 to 3.1:4

Process for increasing the pinning force of superconducting Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O ceramic moldings, which comprises heating the pure-phase 2212 phase of a Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O ceramic molding under pure oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas for from 1 to 40 minutes to a temperature of from 825.degree. to 900.degree. C. and generating secondary-phase precipitates in the process.
