摘要: A spherical bearing with selectable electrical conductivity includes a bearing body having a spherical supporting surface, a layer of electrically insulating material and a housing having a concave spherical seating surface which form a ball joint having a center around which the bearing body may swivel relative to the housing when the housing is not clamped against the insulating layer and bearing body with the force required for operation of the bearing. A first positioning pin of electrically conductive material projects radially through the insulating layer and into a recess formed in the housing. Electrical connection between the housing and the bearing body is provided by a compression spring which bears against the recess and the first positioning pin. A second positioning pin of electrically insulating material may be selected in lieu of the first positioning pin and spring to provide a bearing configuration wherein the body is insulated from the housing.

摘要: An apparatus for the application of adhesive to the outside surfaces of book blocks to be encased in a casing inside a casing-in machine, includes an adhesive application device having two application rollers arranged opposite each other in an adhesive application area and which roll off respectively one outside surface of a book block that is conveyed while positioned on a saddle plate of a circulating conveyor. Each roller includes a recess that forms a shoulder parallel to the rotational axis, for applying adhesive to the fold region of a book block. The rotational position of the recess can be adjusted based on the position of a specific fold on a book block that passes through the adhesive application area by providing the conveyor and the application rollers with separate drives for an infinitely variable change of the relative position between the saddle plates on the conveyor and the rotational position of the application rollers. The drives are controllably connected by a control unit. At least the drive for the application rollers of the adhesive application device comprises a controllable drive element.

摘要: A device for pressing a book casing onto adhesive-coated outer surfaces of a book block includes a circulating conveyor having a perpendicular section and saddle plates arranged to be conveyed upward in the perpendicular section. A press on device, with a press-on region and operating synchronously with the circulating conveyor, includes press-on rollers arranged opposite each other in the press-on region. The rollers respectively press one cover of the casing onto one adhesive-coated outer surface of a book block which is positioned straddling on one of the saddle plates conveyed upward in the perpendicular section of the circulating conveyor. A support plane is provided so that a book casing can be positioned and evenly spread out to match a length of the book block conveyed on the saddle plate. The support plane is arranged so that the book casing thereon can be supplied transversely to the perpendicular conveying section to a holding position for takeover by the book block. A flexible hold-down device is located above the holding position to press the evenly spread out book casing onto the support plane.

摘要: An improved technique for monitoring computer processes and their attributes using a three-dimensional graphical image. The three dimensional graphical image is formed by displaying the graphical objects associated with the computer processes and their attributes. The physical relationship between the various graphical objects within the graphical image preferably model the actual relationships between the processes and their attributes. The computers which run or activate the processes may also be represented by a graphical object within the graphical image. As the attributes of the computer processes change, the characteristics of the graphical objects are quickly adjusted and the three-dimensional graphical image is updated to reflect the changes to the attributes of the computer processes being monitored. By varying the characteristics of the graphical objects, a user is able to visually notice the changes that occur to the graphical objects of the three-dimensional graphical image as an indication of the changes taking place to the attributes of the processes being monitored.

摘要: A method of repairing a damaged (e.g., cracked) portion of a buried sewage pipe by permeating one or more layers of fibrous material with a hardenable plastic compound (such as epoxy resin), convoluting the thus obtained mat around a radially expandible length of hose to permit frictional engagement between the internal surface of the mat and the external surface of the hose, introducing the hose into a selected defective portion of the pipe, expanding the hose and the convoluted mat so that the mat engages the internal surface of the pipe, deflating the hose, and withdrawing the hose from the pipe, preferably after the plastic compound has set wherein a film of polyethylene is inserted between the external surface of the hose and the internal surface of the convoluted mat to enhance friction and to thus compel the hose to turn in the course of the expanding step. Expansion of the hose results in expulsion of some plastic compound beyond the peripheral surface of the convoluted mat; such compound bonds the expanded convoluted mat to the pipe and at least partially fills the crack or cracks in the adjacent portion of the pipe. Some plastic compound is also expelled at the axial ends of the convoluted mat to form a smooth transition between the internal surface of the pipe and the internal surface of the expanded convoluted mat.

摘要: Apparatus for singularizing stacked paper sheets has a rotary withdrawing conveyor with an annulus of equidistant satellites having suction cups which attract successive lowermost sheets of a stack in a magazine adjacent a first portion of an endless path for the satellites. The satellites deliver the sheets into a second portion of the endless path where the leaders of the sheets are caused to project radially outwardly and to enter the spaces between the open jaws of grippers which are transported by an endless chain in such a way that a gripper which is about to receive a sheet is moved at the speed of the oncoming sheet-carrying satellite and in the same direction. The satellites have discs cooperating with an endless band serving to gradually release a sheet which is in the process of advancing with a gripper.

摘要: A method of salvaging a pipe conduit which has a predetermined inner diameter and is buried under ground, especially a sewer pipe includes the steps of soaking a resin-absorbing inner layer of a lining hose which further includes an impermeable outer layer that outwardly adjoins and surrounds the inner layer and has an outer diameter which is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the pipe conduit to be salvaged with an amount of a resin that exceeds that needed for saturating the inner layer. The outer layer is perforated to form a plurality of flow-through openings for the resin therein. The lining hose is subsequently introduced in its collapsed state into the pipe conduit. Finally, the lining hose is shaped to conformingly line the pipe conduit by causing a fluid to flow at a superatmospheric pressure into an auxiliary hose at least partially received in the lining hose and including a turned-over region with attendant gradual advancement of the turned-over region of the auxiliary hose into the lining hose and escape of the excess amount of the resin through the flow-through openings.

摘要: A gathering machine wherein a chain conveyor has pushers which advance below a row of platforms receiving sheets from discrete magazines. An orbiting arm in the region of each platform carries an elastic cap which engages a freshly delivered sheet to press it against the upper side of the respective platform and to accelerate such sheet in the direction of movement of the pushers so that the speed of sheets approximates or equals the speed of pushers not later than when the pushers engage and entrain accelerated sheets. Streams of compressed air are directed against the upper sides of sheets on the platforms by nozzles receiving compressed air through a valve which is closed while the platforms receive fresh sheets. The sheets which are removed from the platforms descend onto a stationary rail to form growing stacks, and such stacks are advanced by the pushers beyond the foremost platform where the fully grown stacks are removed or subjected to further treatment.
