    摘要: A combined cylinder block and crankcase for a multi-cylinder light-metal alloy internal-combustion engine has partitioning walls between the cylinders. The cylinders are surrounded by cooling-water channels. Combustion cylinder spaces are disposed between the combined cylinder block and crankcase and a cylinder head. In order to ensure that during the operation of the internal-combustion engine the cylinder diameters (adjacent to the combustion spaces) are kept within fixed tolerances specifically in the area of the partitioning walls, thermal-expansions slots are provided in the partitioning walls which lead to the cooling-water channels. These thermal-expansions slots are sealed off with respect to the cooling-water channels so that the partitioning walls are not impaired by cavitation.

    摘要: A metal support catalyst is inserted into the exhaust pipe of a reciprocating piston engine. The catalyst comprises two monoliths spaced away from one another and surrounded by jacket tubes which are centered coaxially with respect to one another with a sliding fit in beads and crimpings of the outer jacket. At an air feeding point between the beads of the outer jacket, air is introduced between the two monoliths in the lower rotational speed range of the engine in order to achieve an afterreaction of the exhaust gases.

    摘要: A cover hood is secured at the cylinder head by means of detachable retaining elements whereby a sealing member is provided between sections of the cylinder head and of the cover hood which are placed at one another. Thereafter, the crankshaft is assembled whereby the bearing cover is at first aligned by the fitting pins and is then fixed by means of the fastening bolts. Not only a secure support of the bearing cover at the bearing sections is assured thereby, but also narrow tolerances which favorably influence the bearing support of the crankshaft, can be maintained without problem.

    摘要: A pressure relief valve for a lubrication system of an internal combustion engine includes a valve body disposed within a generally cylindrical bore in a housing. The valve body is axially movable within the bore and is provided with a sealing surface on one end. A spring biases the sealing surface against a valve seat in the housing. A guide, which is preferably sleeve-shaped, is non-fixedly arranged within the bore for guiding the axial movement of the valve body and reducing the impact of manufacturing tolerance variations on valve operation. In a preferred embodiment, the sealing surface of the valve body is spherically shaped and the valve seat is conically shaped. A vent passage is provided in the sleeve-shaped guide to equalize pressures within the bore during operation of the valve.

    摘要: The crankshaft bearing of a multicylinder internal combustion engine has an upper and a lower bearing part, as well as upper and lower bearing brackets with bearing bores connected therewith, in which brackets the main bearing pins of a crankshaft are mounted. The main bearing pins of the crankshaft are supplied with lubricant through oil grooves in the bearing bores. In order to guide the oil escaping from the bearing locations, which oil is flung-off by the rotating crankshaft cheeks, oil grooves are provided on the lateral surfaces of the bearing brackets. The groves are open on their radial interiors and drain downward in the installed position. This prevents severe foaming of the oil, since the oil flung-off the crankshaft can be captured directly and guided. The residence time of the oil in the crank chamber is reduced so that the oil flows more rapidly back into the oil pan and churning losses are reduced.
