    摘要: An adapter has a cannula to deliver a drug to the interior of a vial. The vial contains a plunger that has a penetratable self-sealing rubber diaphragm, as is common. The adapter comprises a barrel adapted to fit over and telescope onto the vial, with a cannula rigidly mounted axially in the barrel and long enough to reach the bottom of the vial after penetrating the rubber diaphragm. The barrel incorporates fins that stabilize the cannula axially. Cover plugs are provided to close both the barrel and the vial before use. When the covers are removed and the barrel s fitted down over the vial, the cannula projects beyond the fins to penetrate the plunger and push the plunger to the bottom of the vial. The long barrel and the rigidly maintained cannula insure that the cannula cannot contact the inner wall of the vial.

    摘要: A port structure is provided for a container such as a flexible bag for I.V. fluids which will permit the piercing by a piercing pin in a leak resistant manner. The port structure is fabricated with the usual piercing diaphragm positioned in the innermost portion of the tubular port. Unlike the usual construction of port structures of this type, the inner tubular member containing the pierceable diaphragm is not connected to the remaining portions of the port structure at the outermost regions thereof or adjacent the flange or connecting portions, but instead joins the tubular member at an intermediary position so as to create a standing port for receiving the piercing pin.

    摘要: A tamper resistant cover for the port of a container for medical liquids which when applied to the port indicates that an additive material has been introduced into the container. The port cover is easily molded from a resinous plastic material and includes latch portions which fit into a latch bar with the latch bar serving as a means to prevent access with the latch portions so as to result in a tamper-resistant structure. Preferably, the latch portions are in the form of barbed sections and are guided by means of an inclined ramp into latch openings in such a manner that a compression fit is provided so that after the barbed sections are forced through the latch openings the barbed sections will expand to engage latch surfaces in the latching bar.

    摘要: A stoppered vial containing a medicament to be mixed with a diluent is enclosed within a flexible I.V. fluid container. Mixing of the medicament in the stoppered vial with a diluent also contained within the flexible I.V. fluid container is accomplished by first, unstoppering the vial by manipulation of the flexible sides of the container; then second, causing the fluid to intermix with the medicament in the vial by compressing that portion of the flexible container holding the diluent.
