摘要: The coating method of the present invention comprises sequentially applying an amine-neutralized type aqueous intermediate coating composition and an amine-neutralized type aqueous top coating composition, the method being characterized in that a coating composition mainly comprising (A) an amine-neutralized base resin having a hydroxyl value of 30 to 150 KOH mg/g and an acid value of 15 to 50 KOH mg/g, (B) an amino resin and (C) an organic sulfonic acid amine salt is used as the amine-neutralized type aqueous intermediate coating composition. The method of the present invention can improve the adhesion between layers of a multi-layer coating film formed from aqueous coating compositions and chipping resistance of said coating film.

摘要: The present invention provides a method for forming a coating film, comprising the steps of:(a) coating a metal panel with a cationic electrophoretic coating composition and heating the composition to form an electrophoretic coating,(b) applying to the electrophoretic coating an aqueous primer containing a polyurethane emulsion prepared by subjecting a carboxyl-containing urethane prepolymer to chain extension by water,(c) applying an intermediate coating composition to the primer surface,(d) baking the aqueous primer and the intermediate coating composition at the same time, and(e) applying a top coating composition to the cured coating and baking the composition.

摘要: This invention provides an aqueous intercoat composition comprising, as main components, (A) a polyester resin having a hydroxyl group and a carboxyl group in one molecule, (B) a blocked product of at least one polyisocyanate selected from a polymer of aliphatic polyisocyanate, an adduct of said polymer with an active hydrogen-containing compound and an adduct of aliphatic polyisocyanate with an active hydrogen-containing compound, and (C) water. The aqueous intercoat composition of the invention is capable of forming a coating film excellent in chipping resistance.

摘要: A method for forming a multi-layer metallic coating film, the method being a 3-coat system comprising the steps of applying the following coating compositions (A), (B) and (C) in this order to a metal substrate coated with a cationically electrodepositable coating composition; (A) an organic solvent-based thermosetting metallic first base coating composition which comprises a neutralized carboxyl-containing resin having an acid value of 5 to 100 mg KOH/g, an amino resin and a metallic pigment, the composition having a substrate-hiding power corresponding to up to 3% transmittance of light at a wavelength of 400 to 700 nm in a 15 .mu.m-thick cured coating film, (B) an aqueous thermosetting second base coating composition which has a transparency corresponding to 10 to 95% transmittance of light at a wavelength of 400 to 700 nm in a 15-.mu.m thick cured coating film, and (C) an organic solvent-based thermosetting clear coating composition. The method of the invention gives a multi-layer metallic coating film on a metal substrate, the film being improved in esthetic property, surface smoothness and so on.
