Abstract:
Process for the preparation of sulpho-free triphenylmethane dyestuffs of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 -R.sup.3 denote hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl, preferably methyl, or halogen, preferably chlorine,Y denotes hydrogen or NX.sup.5 X.sup.6,X.sup.1 -X.sup.6 denote hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl, preferably methyl, ethyl, benzyl or phenyl andZ.sup.- denotes an anionby oxidation of their leuco products with manganese dioxide, characterized in that, after the oxidation is completed, manganese hydroxide or manganese carbonate and the carbinol base of the dyestuff are formed by the addition of hydroxide or carbonate, during or after which the carbinol base is taken up in a water-immiscible solvent, separated off from the manganese hydroxide or manganese carbonate and from the water phase, the solution is mixed with the acid HZ which may have been mixed with water, the solvent is either distilled off before the mixing or separated or distilled off after the mixing, and the dyestuff is isolated as a solution or in solid form after evaporation or crystallization.
Abstract:
Optical brighteners of the formula ##STR1## wherein B denotes a direct bond or the 1,4-phenylene radical andR.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently of one another denote hydrogen, optionally substituted alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl, or together form a fused aromatic ring,or the quaternisation products and protonation products thereof, are outstandingly suitable for the white tinting of polyester fibres or acrylic fibres. They are distinguished by a good build-up capacity and a small tendency to develop a green tone.
Abstract:
Dry toners for developing latent electrostatic images in electrostatic recording and printing methods contain, as charge-control substance, a pigment of the formulaF.sup.+ A.sup.- (I)in whichF represent a cationic radical of a methine dyestuff andA.sup.- represents an anion of a heteropolyacid based on tungsten and/or molybdenum with phosphorus, silicon, vanadium, cobalt, aluminum, manganese, chromium and/or nickel or a copper(I) hexacyanoferrate anion.
Abstract:
New naphthalimides, useful as additives in toners for controlling the charge and conductivity, of the formula ##STR1## in which R represents C.sub.1 - to C.sub.22 -alkyl,R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently of one another in each case represent C.sub.1 - to C.sub.4 -alkyl, or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, together with the nitrogen atom in between, form a pyrrolidine, piperidine or morpholine ring,n represents 2 or 3 andX.sup..crclbar. represent one equivalentof a benzoate or naphthoate, which is optionally substituted by chlorine, bromine, methyl, methoxy, hydroxyl, cyano and/or hydroxycarbonyl,of a benzenesulphonate which is substituted by hydroxyl, amino or nitro,of a naphthalenesulphonate which is optionally substituted by hydroxyl, amino or a sulphonic acid group, orof a fluorine-substituted anion of a C.sub.4 - to C.sub.18 -alkanecarboxylic or -alkanesulphonic acid.
Abstract:
Mixtures have been found comprising at least one red dye of the formula (I), (C) or (CI) and at least one orange dye of the formula (L), (LI), (LII), (LIII), (LIV) or (LV) where the substituents have the definition in the description, these mixtures being suitable more particularly for the mass colouring of plastics.
Abstract:
Optical data carriers having at least one information layer which comprises a polymeric network comprising covalently bound light-absorbent compounds.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a singly recordable optical data medium using Co-phthalocyanine complexes of the formula (I) in which the groups are defined herein, as light-absorbing compounds in the information layer of optical data media, in which information layer is recordable using light, particularly for CD-R, and the application of the above-mentioned compounds to a polymer substrate, particularly polycarbonate, by spin coating.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an electrochromic device having (a) a pair of glass or plastic plates or plastic films wherein at least one such plate or film is provided on one side each with an electrically conductive coating, wherein (1) at least one such plate or film and its conductive coating is transparent, (2) the other such plate or film and its conductive coating is optionally mirrored, (3) the electrically conductive layer of one or both of the two plates or films is optionally divided into separate segments optionally provided with individual contacts, and (4) the plates or films are joined on the sides of their conductive coating by means of a sealing ring to form a volume; and (b) the volume formed by the two plates or films and the sealing ring is filled with an electrochromic medium containing certain dihydronaphthazines or dihydrophenazines.
