Abstract:
Two extended embedded Display Port displays may be enabled by using a single set of panel power sequencing (PPS) signals from a chipset to enable the two embedded Display Port panels. To enhance the user experience, the backlight module brightness is controlled by making use of a pin available on a system on a chip (SOC) and modification of drivers. This helps to save power when only one panel is used. When both panels are used simultaneously, power savings can be achieved by using backlight control signals.
Abstract:
A computing system having a high-performance battery pack (e.g., 3S, 4S battery packs) coupled to a voltage regulator and logic to control an input supply of the voltage regulator. The logic determines the context of usage of the computing device (or user attentiveness) and either dynamically bypasses the voltage regulator to provide the voltage from the high-performance battery pack directly to various components of the computing system, or dynamically engages devices of the voltage regulator to provide a lower supply voltage to the various components of the computing system.

Abstract:
In one embodiment, a display panel may have multiple regions that are controlled by independent driver circuitries to allow for independent refreshing of different regions. Circuitry, e.g., in a graphics source or in the display, can determine, based on a partial frame update, which panel regions to refresh and refresh those regions, e.g., while not refreshing other regions of the panel.
Abstract:
Various embodiments herein provide apparatuses, systems, and methods associated with a region-based power saving scheme for a display, such as an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display. In embodiments, pixels of an image may be allocated to two or more subsets including a first subset that corresponds to a region of interest (ROI). The two or more subsets may further include a second subset that includes some or all of the pixels that are outside of the ROI. A more aggressive power saving scheme may be applied to the second subset compared with the first subset (which may or may not undergo a power saving scheme). In some embodiments, a saturation level of the pixels of the second subset may be increased in addition to the dimming. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.
Abstract:
Techniques for overlay surfaces for compute devices are disclosed. In one embodiment, an overlay surface on a base portion of a compute device can be moved from a folded or closed position (in which it does not cover the keyboard) to an unfolded or open position (in which it covers part of the keyboard). The base portion includes a touch sensor that allows the overlay surface to be used as a touch surface. In another embodiment, an overlay surface of a compute device is movable from one position adjacent a display of the compute device to another position adjacent a base of the compute device. The overlay surface is electrically switchable from a transparent state to an opaque state, allowing the display to be seen through it in one position and allowing it to be used as an opaque drawing surface in another position.
Abstract:
A cover for a tablet or similar computer device equipped with strap hinges is disclosed. In embodiments, the cover may include three strap hinges to allow the tablet to be placed in several different configurations. The cover is equipped with at least two magnets in different polarities, which may be detected by the tablet. Based on the detection of at least one magnet and its polarity, the tablet may cause the interface of its operating system to be placed into a configuration appropriate to the configuration of the cover. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
Abstract:
In some examples, display backlight strings are grouped into at least two groups based on characteristics of the display backlight strings. A first of the at least two groups of display backlight strings is operated at a first operating voltage. A second of the at least two groups of display backlight strings is operated at a second operating voltage.
