Such resins can be used as the predominant component of a hot melt adhesive which can be employed for instance as a construction adhesive in the manufacture of disposable absorbent articles. The composition also includes a copolymer formed from at least two monomer types of which at least one monomer type is a polar monomer and at least one monomer type is an apolar monomer, and a solid plasticizer.

An adhesive composition is described that is particularly useful for application to the plastic nonwoven materials found in personal hygienic articles. The composition includes first and second ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers. The first copolymer has a high molecular weight characterized by a melt viscosity at 150° C., of 100 Pascals per second or more. The second copolymer has a low molecular weight characterized by a melt viscosity at 150° C. of 50 Pascals per second or less. The second copolymer is present in an amount by weight percent less than or equal to the amount by weight percent of the first ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer. The composition also includes at least one tackifier resin, a hydrocarbon wax present in an amount from 0.5% to 10% by weight of the composition; and, a liquid plasticizer present in an amount up to 20% by weight of the composition.

Disclosed herein are novel stabilizers for thermoplastic oil-modified alkyd resins. It has now been found that such stabilizers can greatly increase the stability of alkyd resins against melt viscosity variations after thermal aging. The alkyd resins can be used as the predominant component of a hot melt adhesive which can be employed for instance as a construction adhesive in the manufacture of disposable absorbent articles.

The adhesive compositions comprise a thermoplastic hydrophilic homogeneous polymeric matrix having selected liquid absorption capacity, liquid absorption rate, and rheology. The adhesive compositions of the present invention are particularly suitable as topical adhesives for skin adhesion of articles such as disposable waste management articles, disposable absorbent articles, and personal care articles.

Such liquid absorbing thermoplastic material can be utilised in the absorbent cores of disposable absorbent articles, such as sanitary napkins, panty liners, interlabial devices, tampons, disposable diapers, incontinence pads, wound dressings, nursing pads and the like for completely or partially substituting said absorbent cores.
