Abstract:
Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for processing calls. A dialed digit string is received and analyzed to determine whether the dialed digit string is a complete string according to a dialing plan of a service provider. If the dialed digit string is a complete string, then the call is sent for routing to the dialed digit string. If the dialed digit string is not a complete string, then it is determined whether the dialed digit string is a valid string according to a calling party's personal dialing plan. If the dialed digit string is valid, then a number is retrieved that corresponds to the dialed digit string according to the calling party's personal dialing plan. The call is then routed to the number.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for providing a service to a telephony device. A call is routed to a virtual number in a service-providing network. The call is directed to a dialed telephone number in a native transport network, wherein the virtual telephone number is associated with the dialed telephone number. An advanced telephony service is received from the service-providing network.
Abstract:
Methods of generating a substitute URL are disclosed. In one implementation, a form is presented by a web server on a web site home page for the submission of a first URL for which a user wishes to generate an alias URL. A second URL is then generated for the URL that is entered in the form. The second URL contains some indication of the web site that hosts the first URL. In a second implementation the substitute URL generation is offered through a link or button on a web page other than the web site home page. The substitute URL is generated for the URL for the web page that hosts the link. In a third implementation, a web site automatically generates substitute URLs.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products are disclosed for conserving bandwith. If a presence of at least one individual is detected, then a stream of data is delivered to the multimedia device. If the presence of at least one individual is not detected, then the stream of data is degraded to conserve bandwidth.
Abstract:
A method, system, and computer program product for providing traffic control services is provided. The method includes detecting an occurrence of an activity and obtaining traffic management support information associated with a source of the activity. The method also includes subscribing to traffic messages provided by the source and implementing traffic management activities for the source based upon the traffic messages.
Abstract:
A method to remotely control a wireless unit, includes receiving an activation/deactivation request from a user. It is determined if the user is authorized to activate/deactivate the wireless unit. If the user is authorized to activate/deactivate the wireless unit, a signal is sent to the wireless unit causing the wireless unit to power-on/power-off in response to the signal.
Abstract:
A system and method for restoring the original calling number in a call routed through an out-of-network enhanced service provider to a forwarding destination. The system comprises a service control point, a service switching point in communication with the service control point, and an enhanced service provider service node in communication with the service switching point, wherein the service node is located outside of a network while the remaining components reside within the network, and wherein the service switching point is provisioned with two triggers: an incoming trigger for calls to the service node and an outgoing trigger for calls from the service node. According to the method, the service control point, in response to the incoming trigger, removes and stores the private call information of a call exiting the network and, in response to the outgoing trigger, restores that private call information to the call once the call re-enters the network.
Abstract:
A method for providing a privacy management service in a telephone system including initiating a telephone call from a subscriber telephone number to a called party telephone number. The initiating is performed by a subscriber. It is determined if the called party telephone number is located in a subscriber database corresponding to the subscriber. The called party telephone number is added to the subscriber database in response to the determining resulting in not locating the called party telephone number in the subscriber database. The telephone call between the subscriber telephone and the called party telephone number is connected.
Abstract:
Provided Web broadcast information is managed by annotation markers. At least one marker is received that annotates the audio and/or video information and the annotated audio and/or video information is saved in an electronically searchable file.
Abstract:
A method and system for forwarding information, such as a message waiting indicator (MWI) message, to a telephone number corresponding to a foreign network (e.g., a wireless network) and a shared NPA/NXX—The invention evaluates individual telephone numbers of shared NPA/NXXs to determine to what networks to send messages. A representative embodiment of the invention uses a service control point and service package application to deliver an MWI message from a messaging service provider to a wireless (i e., foreign network) telephone number of a shared NPA/NXX, Shared NPA/NXXs are marked as “portable” in a signal transfer point for forwarding to the service control point, which determines whether the shared NPA/NXX telephone numbers require local number portability global title translation or should be forwarded to an inter-switch voicemail routing (ISVMR) service package application. The ISVMR service package application determines the point code to which the MWI message should be routed.
