Abstract:
An optical corrosion sensor employs an optical fiber Bragg grating 20 embedded within an optical fiber 18. The grating 20 has a coating 40 made of a material, such as aluminum, which corrodes or can otherwise be removed. The coating 40 exerts forces 46 radially inward around and along the grating 20 so as to cause the wavelength bandwidth of the grating reflectivity profile to become broader and to be shifted relative to its uncoated condition. Also, the forces on the grating 20 are reduced when the coating corrodes, thereby causing the wavelength bandwidth and shift of the reflectivity profile of the grating to narrow and to return to its uncoated condition.
Abstract:
The apparatus and methods disclosed may be utilized for the scratch/mar testing of various materials and components that provide improved correlation between the simulated damage modes and those reasonably expected to be encountered by the final components. The apparatus includes both a fixture configured for receiving and holding the material under test (MUT) and a tool holder that is arranged and configured for supporting and holding a variety of test tools in one or more orientations relative to the MUT. The tool holder and/or the fixture are, in turn, supported by one or more assemblies arranged and configured for bringing the tool into contact with the MUT and providing for movement of the tool relative to the MUT. The apparatus is then used for collecting data from a series of tests that can be used to compare the performance of different MUT compositions and configurations.
Abstract:
Provided herein are isolated genomic polynucleotide fragments from the from the p15 region of chromosome 11 encoding human and tumor suppressing subtransferable candidate 4 (TSSC4) and methods of use.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to isolated genomic polynucleotide fragments that encode human resistin and human syntaxin binding protein 2, vectors and hosts containing these fragments and fragments hybridizing to noncoding regions as well as antisense oligonucleotides to these fragments. The invention is further directed to methods of using these fragments to obtain human resistin and human syntaxin binding protein 2 and to diagnose, treat, prevent and/or ameliorate a pathological disorder.
Abstract:
A profiling engine is disclosed. The profiling engine collects information from a variety of sources in real time and stores the information in a profile. The profile may have a number of layers, each layer having a number of categories. The profile is made available for use by applications and services.
Abstract:
A tool and method for monitoring a transformation of source markup by a rules-based transformation engine are provided. The transformation engine comprises a matching component, for scanning the source markup and generating edit information in accordance with a set of rules, and a transforming component, for transforming the source markup into transformed markup in accordance with the rules. The tool comprises a text modifier for receiving the source markup, transformed markup, and edit information. The text modifier modifies the source markup and/or transformed markup in accordance with the edit information such that rendering of the modified markup produces a page displaying the markup and highlighting those portions affected by transformations. The tool may be implemented in a reverse proxy mechanism to show how content has been transformed by the transformation engine and by which particular rules, in order to debug the dynamic proxying of markup content sent by backend servers.
Abstract:
A multi-channel pipetter having a case generally in the form of a pistol grip. A block having a plurality of cylinders is mounted in the case adjacent the bottom and a piston plate is mounted for reciprocal motion in the case with its pistons in the cylinders. A finger actuated slide in the case engages the plate and moves the pistons so as to fill and discharge the contents of the cylinders.
