Abstract:
A portable eye washing station includes a spike that can pierce a fluid source and the spike is hollow to pass fluid therethrough. A feed tube is fluidly coupled to the spike to receive the fluid from the spike. A fitting is fluidly coupled to the second end of the feed tube and the fitting has a pair of outputs to pass the fluid therethrough. A distribution tube is fluidly coupled to each of the outputs on the fitting such that the distribution tube forms a closed loop for wearing around a user's head. A cannula is fluidly coupled to the distribution tube to release the fluid and the cannula has a pair of outlets. Each of the outlets is aligned with a respective one of the user's eyes when the distribution tube is worn around the user's head. Thus, each of the outlets directs the fluid into the user's eyes for flushing the user's eyes.
Abstract:
Provided are porous, biocompatible implant bodies and materials. These materials suitably comprise a population of randomly arranged thermoplastic constituents, with at least some of the constituents being bonded to one another The implant bodies are capable of being manipulated at room temperature from a first shape to a second shape, and of maintaining the second shape at about internal body temperature. Also provided are related methods of fabricating such implants and installing the implants into a subject.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an improved disposable exercise glove. The device includes a latex glove with an opening for each finger section, a flock-lined interior, and a padded palm area. The flock lining enables a user to easily don the gloves, while the padding provides an enhanced grip when grasping exercise equipment. The gloves can be worn and disposed of after a single use or can be reused as desired. The present invention is substantially all in one piece, and is easy to put on and take off of the user's hand. The disposable exercise glove is composed of resilient material that not only readily adjusts itself to the user's hand when placed thereon, but snugly and tightly fits the same. The present invention provides a hygienic and protective barrier to make otherwise long or strenuous workouts more comfortable.
Abstract:
A first tool is configured to cut a polymer implant, and includes a handle, a cutting portion, and a bending portion. A second tool is configured to cut a polymer implant, and includes a handle, a first cutting portion, and a second cutting portion. The cutting portions contain a cutter that is preferably a blade. In the second tool, the blades are preferably angled with respect to each other between about 45°. The tools can be used to reshape an implant that is to be used to replace a portion of a skull.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a resorbable containment device for use in treating voids in bone and restoring the anatomy of diseased or fractured bone. The resorbable containment device may be a balloon of varied size or shape to conform to the bone to be treated and may be deployed in any type of bone where collapsed fractures of cortical bone may be treated by restoring the bone from its inner surface. The containment device may be formed from a pluronic based polymer and may degrade in-vivo within a period of weeks after implantation into bone. The balloon may have multiple layers to provide desired surface characteristics, resistance to puncture and tearing, or other beneficial properties, as appropriate for the particular application of the device.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method of managing a virtual local area network (VLAN) domain associated with a network is provided. In this embodiment, the method comprises: defining a VLAN domain comprising a list of a plurality of connectively coupled ports of the network associated with the VLAN domain; and assigning at least one VLAN associated with the plurality of connectively coupled ports. In another embodiment, a system for managing virtual local area networks (VLANs) in a network is provided. In this embodiment, the system comprises a network provisioning module for defining a VLAN domain comprising a list of a plurality of connectively coupled ports of the network associated with the VLAN domain and assigning at least one VLAN associated with the plurality of connectively coupled ports. The system further comprises a a network monitoring system operable to gather actual network element configuration data from a plurality of network elements associated with one or more VLAN domains, wherein the actual network element configuration data identifies one or more VLANs that at least some of the plurality of network elements are actually allocated to; and a VLAN services module operable to correlate the actual network element configuration data with administrative VLAN data. The administrative VLAN data identifies one or more VLANs recognized by a business process. In one particular embodiment, the system is further operable to determine one or more VLANs that are not commonly identified in both the actual network element configuration data and the administrative VLAN data.
Abstract:
The present invention relates in general to implantable flexible bone composites, and method for preparing the same. The flexible bone composite includes at least one polymeric layer and at least one calcium-containing layer. The polymeric layer can be a polymeric layer including a synthetic polymer. The calcium-containing layer can include a calcium compound such as β-Ca3(PO4)2. The flexible bone composites of the invention are useful as bone void fillers and have improved handling characteristics.

Abstract:
A bituminous water vapor retarder is disclosed of the type which can be used under concrete slabs in contact with soil or granular fill. The vapor barrier is a multi-ply weather coated permanently bonded semi-flexible bituminous core board composed of the homogeneous high melt point bituminous material in combination with an exclusive core suspended midpoint in the board. This core is sealed under heat and pressure between liners of asphalt and impregnated felt and a glass mat liner. An asphalt weather coat is applied to the glass mat liner and covered with a polyethylene anti-stick sheet.
