    摘要: A data signal compression technique for real-time voice and data processing where the digitized signal is first compressed to obtain a first compressed signal, and the first compressed signal is then compressed again to obtain a second compressed signal. Within a digital signal processor, digital signals first undergo time scale compression after which the compressed signals undergo audio compression to achieve multiple-compressed signals. Upon reception in a second digital signal processor, the multiple-compressed signals are correspondingly decompressed to achieve a high-quality estimation of the original digital signals.

    摘要: A cable modem integrated session border controller operates as a point of demarcation between a local area network (LAN) and a DOCSIS network and, in response to receiving a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message, which includes Session Description Protocol (SDP), from a VoIP device coupled to the LAN, communicates with a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) to take advantage of DOCSIS Dynamic Quality of Service (DQoS). If required service flow attributes, as determined from the SDP of the SIP message, matches service flow attributes of an existing UGS service flow with a CMTS, a DOCSIS Dynamic Service Change (DSC) request is used to add an additional sub flow to the existing UGS service flow. If attributes fail to match attributes of all existing UGS service flows, a DOCSIS Dynamic Service Change (DSC) request is used to initiate an additional UGS service flow with the required service flow attributes.

    摘要: An equalization method for digitally encoded signals transmitted in a plurality of non-contiguous time slots has a digitally encoded synchronization signal commencing in each time slot followed by a digitally encoded data signal having a digitally encoded marker signal at a predetermined time period. The synchronization signal of the assigned time slot ("first synchronization signal") and the digitally encoded data signal of the assigned time slot including the marker signal, and the digitally encoded synchronization signal of the immediately succeeding non-assigned time slot ("second synchronization signal") are all stored. The location of the minimum energy point of the stored digitally encoded signals is determined. Equalization is performed starting from the first synchronization signal to the minimum energy point. Then, the equalization commences from the second synchronization signal backwards until the minimum energy point is reached.

    摘要: An electronic device with improved heat dissipation properties comprises metallic housing. A base circuit board may be positioned within the housing in a plane parallel to the backside. Multiple connectors for coupling cassettes to the base circuit board may be positioned about the periphery of the base circuit board such that multiple cassettes may be positioned adjacent to each side of the housing. Each cassette includes a printed circuit board with a plurality of heat generating components coupled to the printed circuit board and having a thickness extending towards the side of the housing. The cassette includes a metallic housing with a heat dissipation structure contacting: i) the side of the housing; and ii) each heat generating component. Each of at least two heat generating components have different thicknesses and the heat dissipation structure had different thicknesses between the side of the housing and each heat generating component.

    摘要: A fully differential sigma-delta signal processor for use in high-speed voiceband or higher-frequency applications. The processor receives the two polarities of a differential input signal and passes them to a differential-amplifier integrator through a switched sampling capacitor arrangement. The capacitors are each alternately and concurrently switched back and forth between the two signal paths for the two polarities of the input signal responsive to a clock signal in such a manner as to sample and integrate the input signal at an effective signal transfer rate of at least twice the clock frequency. An analog-to-digital converter defines a digital feedback-control signal characteristic of the integrator output signal. A second switched-capacitor arrangement selectively applies a feedback signal to the integrator inputs, responsive to the digital control signal, at a switching rate comparable to the effective signal transfer rate through the integrator.

    摘要: In a digital wireless communication system operating between a first unit and a second unit, the first unit transmits a digitally encoded RF signal at a first frequency in a plurality of a non-contiguous time slots to the second unit. The second unit receives the digitally encoded RF signals. The received RF digitally encoded signal is converted to an intermediate frequency (IF). An A to D converter samples the received IF digitally encoded signals and generates a plurality of discrete binary symbols during one of the plurality of non-contiguous time slots. A phase error signal is generated for each one of the plurality of discrete binary symbols. A frequency error signal is generated for the subsequent symbol in accordance with .DELTA.f(n+1)=.DELTA.f(n)+g.sub.1 (.crclbar.(n)-.crclbar.(n)). The conversion of the RF signal to intermediate frequency is controlled in response to the frequency error signal. The control is adjusted after the one time slot but prior to the commencement of a subsequent one of the plurality of non-contiguous time slots.
