    摘要: Fluid treatment elements substantially inhibit electrical charge imbalances and/or build-ups of electrical charges. A fluid treatment element may comprise a multilayer composite including an electrically conductive fibrous matrix, having an upstream side and a downstream side, disposed on a porous substrate, also having an upstream side and a downstream side, which supports the fibrous matrix. The fibrous matrix may include a combination of conductive and nonconductive fibers, wherein the conductive fibers include metal fibers and substantially inhibit an electrical charge and/or build-up of electrical charge. The conductive metal fibers of the electrically conductive fibrous matrix may comprise less than about 50% by weight of the conductive and nonconductive fibers and may have diameters in the range from about 1 μm or less to about 10 μm. The multilayer composite may also include a drainage layer positioned along one of the upstream side of the fibrous matrix and the downstream side of the porous substrate.

    摘要: Methods for detecting biopolymers such as proteins, peptides, and nucleic acids in a matrix are provided, in which the methods include contacting the matrix with a sensitizing reagent that includes a substituted heteroaromatic compound; contacting the matrix with a reduceable metal salt to stain the biopolymer(s); and detecting the stained biopolymer(s). Compositions for performing the methods can include sensitizing agents, staining reagents, reducing agents, enhancing agents, and destaining agents. The compositions presented are compatible with mass spectrometry, and methods are provided for staining a biopolymer using the compositions of the invention and performing mass spectrometry on one or more biopolymers identified by the staining methods. Kits for staining biopolymers in matrixes can include a sensitizing reagent and a reduceable metal salt, and optionally, one or more enhancing agents, reducing agents, destaining agents, fixing reagents, chelating agents, biopolymers, matrices, cleavage reagents, buffers, or pH indicators.

    摘要: What is disclosed is a computer-implemented method for generating a right transfer instruction regarding a transferable right in a priced item. The process includes the steps of graphically presenting a chart of a price of the priced item versus time; and setting a trigger control overlaid on the chart that is responsive to the price to initiate the right transfer instruction when the price reaches a predetermined relationship to a particular price for the priced item. An apparatus includes a communications system for receiving and processing a series of price-indicators for one or more priced items; a presentation system for displaying the series of price-indicators in a graphic format; and a controller, coupled to the communications system, for overlaying one or more interface controls on the series of price-indicators, the controller responsive to user input instructions directed to the one or more overlaying controls for setting a parameter of the one or more controls and for initiating a right transfer process when one or more of price-indicators has a predetermined relationship to the parameter of the one or more controls. An article of manufacture, comprising a program storage medium readable by a computer and embodying one or more instructions executable by the computer for generating a right transfer instruction regarding a transferable right in a priced item presented by the computer, the computer having a computer program application that displays a graphical representation of price history of the priced item, the program storage medium including computer code including I/O access commands, wherein: computer program code presenting graphically a chart of a price of the priced item versus time; and setting a trigger control, using the I/O access commands, overlaid on the chart that is responsive to the price to initiate the right transfer instruction when the price reaches a predetermined relationship to a particular price for the priced item.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for mincing a gel includes a gel mincing tube and a mesh material. The mesh material extends across the end of the tube. To subdivide a gel using the mincing apparatus, a gel is placed upon the mesh material in the mincing tube, the mincing tube, mesh material and the gel are spun in a centrifuge, forcing the gel through the mesh material so that the gel is subdivided into generally uniform smaller fragments. The mesh material may be secured to a tube in the form of a nesting tube. The nesting tube nests within the opening of a recovery vessel. The mesh material may be placed in series with a conditionally porous membrane in the nesting tube. Centrifuging the nesting tube and the recovery vessel subdivides gel material into fragments by forcing the gel through the mesh material. The gel subsequently falls upon the membrane, and may be treated on the membrane to extract or otherwise treat analytes in the gel material.
