    摘要: A wireless transceiver comprises a digital to analog converter having an input for receiving a digital representation of a direct sequence spread spectrum signal and having an analog output. A filter has an input coupled to the analog output of the digital to analog converter. An adder has a first input coupled to the filtered output and a second input coupled to a loop control voltage generated by a phase lock loop. A VCO integrated into the phase lock loop has a control input coupled to the summed output. An RF output of the VCO produces a continuous phase frequency shift keyed spread spectrum signal in response to the digital representation of the direct sequence spread spectrums signal. A receiver converts received RF signal to baseband in-phase and quadrature that are in turn converted to digitized signals. A demodulator produces chip data that is despread using a matched filter.

    摘要: Spread spectrum technology is being used in more and more wireless applications. Generally applications of spread spectrum include a fixed spread spectrum code size. In addition in applications that employ time domain duplex, some may employ a fixed duty cycle, for example 50% broadcast and 50% receive, for broadcast and receive functions. Many applications, such as cordless phones, also feature a fixed sampling rate for an input signal. By building systems in which these variables are not fixed but variable manufacturers can make generic type spread spectrum controllers which can be used in a variety of applications. These same circuits can also be controlled to give current devices enhanced characteristics by adjusting data rate for changing conditions, thereby enhancing their performance. By allowing the spreading code to be reduced in length, the data rate of the transmitted signal can be increased without adjusting the bandwidth of the amplifiers used to amplify the transmitted signal. Similarly, more data can be transmitted or spreading code size increased by increasing the transmit duty cycle or the number of timeslices allotted to transmit the signal. The spreading code size can also be increased by using techniques, such as reduced sampling rate, which reduce the amount of data input into the system. Conversely the spreading code length can be increased in order to achieve more range, greater interference tolerance etc. by reducing the data rate or increasing the amount of time allotted to broadcast the signal.

    摘要: A power management system for a mobile unit wherein the base station detects the quality of the signals transmitted by the mobile unit. Based on this signal quality, the base station determines if the mobile unit should increase the transmission power level. If an increase in transmission power is indicated, the base station sends a signal to the mobile unit to cause the mobile unit to increase transmission power. However, to save battery power, the mobile unit only transmits at the increased power level for a limited amount of time, and then automatically returns to transmitting at the lower power level. Further, a slightly decreased high power level is established to allow the mobile unit to function when it is located away from the base station, yet not near the outer transmission boundary.

    摘要: This invention provides a communication device that is capable of interacting with a local wireless communication system when the communication device is within range of the local wireless communication system for controlling operating characteristics of the communication device. The communication device may include cellular telephones, mobile phones, voice pagers, data pagers, mobile computers, palm computers, mobile facsimile machines, mobile appliances, multimedia devices and other wireless communication devices. The local wireless communication system may be located in any site such as an office building, home, hotel, concert hall, movie theater, restaurant, conference room, or public transportation systems. When the local wireless communication system determines that a command is to be sent, the system may transmit a command to all communication devices that are within range of the local wireless communication system, or to a subset of them. For example, the local wireless communication system in an airplane may send a command to all cell phones within its range to turn off to prevent harmful interference with the airplanes communication system. As another example, a local wireless communication system in a concert hall may send a command to change a wireless communication device from ringing mode to vibrate mode during a concert. The command may be any kind of command. The command can change an operating characteristic of the wireless communication device while optionally giving the device the continued ability to communicate and interact with other communication networks. In another alternative, a wireless communication device such as a cell phone may receive information about a user's hearing aid and its “prescription” from a local wireless communication system and change its output characteristics to emulate the hearing aid so that the user can use the wireless communication device without the hearing aid. Also, wireless communication device may communicate with a local wireless communication system to turn off a user's headphone when the wireless communication device receives an incoming call or data signal.

In one example embodiment the detector monitors received telephone signals for an alert signal such as a CPE alert signal. In such a configuration, the invention processes the received signal prior to monitoring by the detector to remove or reduce unwanted echo, interference and/or other signal portions that may otherwise inhibit accurate detection of alert signals sent from a remote location. In one configuration, the invention performs echo suppression or cancellation on the received signal to eliminate or reduce echo, such as may be introduced by a hybrid.
