Abstract:
An aircraft for unmanned firefighting may include a water tank fillable via a scoop operation during flight of the aircraft, and configured to be emptied by a release operation at a target of interest, a communications module configured to employ wireless communication via a ground link and/or a satellite link to provide real time or near real time communication with a remote configuration or monitoring facility, an imaging module configured to obtain image data at the target of interest for identifying updated target information, and a navigation module configured to enable remote or autonomous operation of the aircraft during the scoop operation and the release operation.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an RF power amplifier architecture which with dynamic digital control of the amplification by incorporating digitized RF input and output signal envelope data and environmental temperature sensor(s) readings into an arbitrary control algorithm implemented on a digital processor. Via the combination of digitally controlled DC/DC converter and a D/A converter, the quiescent bias of the power FET of the RF output stage can become a realization of virtually any function of the feedback and input data.
Abstract:
Nitrogen-substituted hexahydropyrazino[1,2-a]pyrimidine-4,7-dione derivatives, processes for the preparation and their use as medicamentsThe invention relates to substituted hexahydropyrazino[1,2-a]pyrimidine-4,7-dione derivatives and to the physiologically tolerated salts and physiologically functional derivatives thereof.Compounds of the formula I in which the radicals have the stated meanings, and the physiologically tolerated salts thereof and processes for preparing them are described. The compounds are suitable for example as anorectic agents.
Abstract:
Disclosed are novel rigidified compounds having a rhodanine-like residue and at least one aryl or heteroaryl residue linked to the rhodanine-like residue, whereby a core structure of these compounds, as defined in the specification, is characterized as having one or zero free-to-rotate bonds. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions containing these rigidified compounds and uses thereof for modulating the activity of heparanase and hence in the treatment of heparanase-associated diseases and disorders, and uses thereof for modulating the activity of heparin-binding proteins and hence in the treatment of heparin-binding proteins-associated diseases and disorders as well as in the treatment of medical conditions that are at least partially treatable by rhodanine or a rhodanine analog.
Abstract:
In general, the invention is directed to a technique for percutaneously introducing a stimulation lead into a target stimulation site via the epidural region proximate the spine of a patient. The process of introducing the stimulation lead may include the use of a hollow stimulation lead introducer, which comprises an elongated sheath and an elongated dilator. The dilator fits within the sheath and serves to widen a path through the epidural region for the introduction of a stimulation lead. At least a portion of the stimulation lead introducer has an oblong cross-section, allowing passage of stimulation leads such as paddle leads. The stimulation lead introducer may enter the epidural region proximate a spine of a patient via a guidewire. The stimulation lead introducer provides a path through the epidural region of a patient to a target stimulation site. A stimulation lead may travel through the path to reach the target stimulation site where it may provide therapy to the patient.

Abstract:
The present invention is a dual frequency and circularly polarized microstrip antenna with a ground plane, a mid layer above the ground plane with a parasitically driven resonant mid patch (for transmissions at a second frequency), a top layer with a directly driven patch parasitically driving the mid patch (for transmissions at a first frequency), and parasitic elements.
Abstract:
A vehicle antenna for a cellular telephone has a balanced-unbalanced (BALUN) transformer that is connected to the telephone and is coupled to a horizontally polarized antenna on the interior of the vehicle and to a vertically polarized antenna that is located on the exterior of the vehicle. The vertically polarized component of a received signal is combined with the horizontally polarized component of the same signal in the transformer element and is applied to the cellular telephone. Signals to be transmitted are applied to the the transformer element and are divided into two portions, one of which is applied to the vertically polarized antenna and the other of which is applied to the horizontally polarized antenna. Because signals from a remote cellular transmitter cell arrive with both a vertical and a horizontal component, the antenna of the present invention retrieves the horizontal component which would otherwise be lost and combines it with the vertical component for more reliable signal reception.
