摘要: A device for penetrating tissue for fluid collection and delivery is provided having a driving actuator interconnected to and driving axial reciprocating motion of a penetrating member. A hollow member attached between the penetrating member and a reservoir permits axial reciprocation of the penetrating member while isolating the vibrations from the reservoir. A handpiece allows for one-handed use of the device. A slider device attached to the reservoir permits one-handed delivery and extraction of materials from the reservoir.

摘要: A method for guiding a therapy delivery device to a target tissue in a subject can include a step of providing a needle (12) having a main body that defines an inner lumen. An opening (26) can be located on a distal end portion of the main body. The opening can be in communication with the inner lumen. A ramp (32) can be positioned within the inner lumen and adjacent the opening. The ramp can be axially spaced apart from a distal end portion of the main body. The needle can be percutaneously inserted into the subject. The needle can be advanced to the target tissue. A camera (68) can be advanced through the inner lumen. The camera can be operated to visualize the target tissue. A therapy delivery device (70) can be advanced through the inner lumen. The therapy delivery device, under direct visualization, can be placed into communication with the target tissue.

摘要: Described herein are devices, systems and methods for treating target tissue in a patient's spine. In general, the methods include the steps of advancing a wire into the patient from a first location, through a neural foramen, and out of the patient from a second location; connecting a tissue modification device to the wire; positioning the tissue modification device through the neural foramen using the wire; modifying target tissue in the spine by moving the tissue modification device against the target tissue; and delivering an agent to modified target tissue, wherein the agent is configured to inhibit blood flow from the modified target tissue. In some embodiments, the step of modifying target tissue comprises removing target tissue located ventral to the superior articular process while avoiding non-target tissue located lateral to the superior articular process.

摘要: A needle that includes an elongate tube having a proximal end, a distal end, an outer wall and an inner wall that defines a through passage, the through passage having a longitudinal central axis. The distal end of the tube includes a bevel having a length and that terminates at a distal tip. The inner wall of the tube has an exposed area in the bevel that is viewable from the top side of the tube. A spiral channel is formed in the inner wall of the tube along at least a portion of the length of the exposed area, the spiral channel having a proximal facing surface configured to reflect ultrasonic waves directed at it.

摘要: An epidural needle assembly is provided, permitting the accurate introduction of a large bore introducer sleeve needle into the epidural space in the spinal column of a patient using the loss of resistance technique. The large bore introducer needle has a beveled side opening at its tip and with a tissue piercing point at the distal extension of the needle. A syringe needle is received within the introducer needle with a distal head of the syringe needle filling the beveled side opening at the distal end of the introducer needle when the syringe hub is fully seated. The lumen of the syringe needle exits the syringe needle head at the side opening of the introducer needle immediately adjacent the tissue piercing point of the introducing needle. The needle assembly may be inserted and advanced, with precise tactile feedback, into a patient, thus accurately detecting the introduction of the introducer needle into epidural space.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for direct visual rhizotomy using an elongated tubular sheath. The sheath includes: a proximal end configured to removably receive a cannula; a distal end; a horizontal shaft having a longitudinal axis extending between the proximal end and the distal end; a first cut-away generally defining a first plane at the distal end, the first cut-away characterized by a first angle relative to a vertical plane; and a second cut-away generally defining a second plane at the distal end, the second cut-away characterized by a second angle relative to a horizontal plane. The sheath further includes an endoscope camera disposed at the distal end, the camera having a line of sight substantially orthogonal to the first plane.
