Abstract: The present invention relates to a cognitive impairment determination apparatus (10), comprising: an input unit (20): a processing unit (30, 120); and an output unit (40). The input unit is configured to provide the processing unit with a plurality of first task trial results, wherein the plurality of first task trial results is generated by a patient having conducted a plurality of trials of a first task. The processing unit is configured to determine an index for the patient, wherein the determination of the index comprises a calculation of a representation of fluctuations in the plurality of first task trial results. The processing unit is configured to determine that the patient should undergo a scan of the brain, wherein the determination comprises utilization of the index for the patient. The output unit is configured to output information that the patient should undergo the scan of the brain if the processing unit determines that the patient should undergo the scan of the brain.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to automated digital prospective memory tests. In various embodiments, working memory instructions may be provided (402) that prompt a subject to perform working memory task(s). Additional instruction(s) may also be provided (404) prompting the subject to perform prospective memory task(s). Each additional instruction may prompt the subject to perform a respective prospective memory task after a predetermined time interval. During the predetermined time interval, the subject's performance of the working memory task(s) may be monitored (406) to determine a measure of engagement. An actual time interval between provision of a given additional instruction and performance of the prospective memory task prompted by the given additional instruction may be determined (408). If the measure of engagement satisfies a criterion, a certified prospective memory measure of the subject, calculated based at least in part on the actual time interval, may be provided (412).

Abstract: According to an aspect, there is provided a computer-implemented method for determining an indication of visual attention/motoric dysfunction of a subject and/or an indication of executive cognitive dysfunction of the subject during or following a test comprising a plurality of targets that are to be completed by the subject, the method comprising the steps of receiving information on the time taken to complete each of the plurality of targets by the subject; determining a regression line for the subject based on the received information on the time taken to complete each of the plurality of targets and information on the time taken to complete each of the plurality of targets for a reference group of subjects; determining an indication of visual attention/motoric dysfunction of the subject based on a slope of the determined regression line and/or an indication of executive cognitive dysfunction of the subject based on an offset of the determined regression line; and outputting the indication of the visual attention/motoric dysfunction of the subject and/or the indication of the executive cognitive dysfunction of the subject.

Abstract: The invention relates to a system and a method for creating an ambient experience for a person, particularly for a patient to be examined in a medical imaging device having a bore into which a patient table can be moved. In a preferred embodiment, the system comprises a display (30) for displaying an image content such as a video for the relaxation of a patient, and an illumination device (40) for illuminating the surroundings with polarized light. Moreover, it comprises a viewing aid, particularly a pair of glasses (20), that is designed to at least partially block light from the illumination device (40) while letting light from the display (30) pass. The viewing aid (20) may for example comprise a polarization filter (23) that lets linearly polarized light (4) from the display (30) pass while blocking light from the illumination device (40) that is polarized in a perpendicular direction. A patient on the patient table can thus view the display (30) without being disturbed by an illumination of the surroundings.

Abstract: A system and method for radiotherapeutic treatment of a patient (20) are provided. The system comprises a patient carrier (11) for receiving the patient (20), means for monitoring (12) positions of at least two different body parts of the patient (20), a processor (14) and feedback means (13). The processor (14) is coupled to the means for monitoring (12) positions and is operative to analyze the monitored positions to determine, for each body part of the at least two body parts, a displacement of the respective body part with respect to a particular desired position. The feedback means (13) are coupled to the processor (14) for interacting with the patient (20) and to provide feedback concerning the displacement of the respective body part.

Abstract: A method and system for assessing a subject using fMRI analysis of the brain activity of a subject while they perform a set of cognitive tasks. For each task, a first level of performance in completing the task is derived. For at least some of the tasks which have been completed to a satisfactory level of performance, it is assessed if any of those tasks showed increased activity, above a threshold, of a region of the brain different to a region of the brain associated with the task. For those tasks, a further fMRI analysis is carried out while they perform a further cognitive task but with additional cognitive loading. The fMRI analysis and the further fMRI analysis are compared. This for example enables determination that a patient is using compensation mechanisms to complete the cognitive tasks.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for use as part of diagnostic analysis of the psychiatric or neurological health of a patient based on use of a normative database of fMRI data results and cognitive task results for a population of prior patients. Embodiments propose to acquire fMRI data of a particular set of one or more regions of the brain of a patient while the patient is performing a cognitive task, and to record at the same time results of the patient's performance in the cognitive task. A combination of both the cognitive task results and the fMRI data for the brain regions is used to provide an indicator as to a cognitive health status of the patient. More particularly, a normative database of fMRI data results and cognitive task results for a population of patients is used as a reference. This may store results both for healthy patients and pathological patients, to provide a normal and abnormal reference.
