The hairdressing cosmetic preparation of the present invention is characterized by comprising a heat-gelling polymer which becomes to gel upon heating. The gelling temperature of the heat-gelling polymer is preferably 60° C. or higher. Preferable heat-gelling polymer is polysaccharides such as &bgr;-1,3-glucan, &bgr;-1,3-xylan, curdlan and the like. The hair dressing preparation of the present invention, due to using such heat-gelling polymer, can give excellent hairdressing effect and hair-setting power when hair applied with the hairdressing preparation is treated with heating.

This invention relates to an oil-in-water-in-oil (O/W/O) type multiple emulsion which contains an inner oil phase, a water phase, and an outer oil phase. The inner oil phase is first dispersed in water to form an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion. Then, the O/W emulsion is further dispersed in the outer oil phase to form the O/W/O type multiple emulsion. The outer oil phase contains an organophilic clay mineral, which can effectively prevent the inter-mixing of the inner oil phase with the outer oil phase, thus, producing an O/W/O type multiple emulsion with excellent storage stability. Upon the using of an oil-soluble compound in the inner oil phase, this multiple emulsion system can prevent the oil-soluble compound from being oxidized. In addition, since different kinds of oils can be selected for the making of the inner and outer oil phases, respectively, the O/W/O type multiple emulsion system allows one to present two different kinds of oils, which have different properties independent from each other, in one emulsion system.

The first objective of the present invention is to provide a water-based polymer emulsion having a satisfactory storage stability and giving a coating film whose water resistance and adhesiveness are excellent. The second objective of the present invention is to provide the water-based polymer emulsion described above which has furthermore excellent characteristics for being used in a hair cosmetics. For the purpose of accomplishing the first objective described above, a water-based polymer emulsion according to the present invention is a water-based polymer emulsion obtained by emulsion polymerization of one or more silane coupling monomer, one or more lipophilic radical polymerizable monomer, and one or more hydrophilic radical polymerizable monomer, in which the polymer having said silane coupling monomer-derived reactive silyl group remaining therein is dispersed at a concentration or lower allowing the crosslinking between said silyl groups to be formed in a water-based dispersion medium. A microcapsule of the present invention is characterized in that it encapsulate oil droplets having average particle size of 0.01 to 3 &mgr;m and its capsulating agent is a hydrophilic polymer gelling agent. The main component of the capsulating agent is preferably a hydrophilic polymer gelling agent which hardens by heating and cooling, and, in particular, agar or carrageenan. In the making method of the present invention, a microcapsule can be made efficiently due to no loss in the inner oil phase, and its particle size can easily be controlled. The microcapsule is excellent in shearing-resistance, store stability. Also, if the fracture strength of the microcapsule is within a specific range, a microcapsule which releasing characteristic of encapsulated oil droplets when applied is immediately-, gradually- or non-releasing can be obtained. Further, when such a hydrophilic microcapsule is coated, the contraction in air, dispersibility to various medium, and elusion of encapsulated components in medium can be also improved.

The present invention is a method for manufacturing a phosphorylcholine group-containing polysaccharide wherein the aldehyde derivative-containing compound obtained by the oxidative ring-opening reaction of glycerophosphorylcholine is added to a polysaccharide containing amino groups as well as a new polysaccharide having phosphorylcholine groups obtained from this manufacturing method.The object of the present invention is to provide a phosphorylcholine group-containing polysaccharide that is superior in biocompatibility and moisture retention, and is useful as a polymer material for medical use, as well as a simple method of manufacturing it.The polysaccharide of the present invention is utilized, for example, in artificial organs, biomembranes, coating agents for medical tools, drug delivery, and in cosmetics.
