A method of manufacturing a paint composite for magnetic films wherein a mixture consisting of a magnetic powder, a polymer such as polyvinylbutyral, and a solvent is ground under a shear stress of 10-400 kg/cm.sup.2, and the ground mixture has a solvent, an epoxy resin and a phenol resin added thereto and is further ground. When a magnetic disk is produced using a paint which has been obtained by executing the first grinding under a shear stress of 10-400 kg/cm.sup.2 with a kneader or the like, it is endowed with excellent electric characteristics and surface flatness.

In a device in which the rotation angle of the rotor is detected with a resolver, the rotation angle of the rotor with less error can be obtained while reducing burden of the operator. The measured angle value acquisition unit acquires the measured-rotation angle value of a motor shaft. The error calculation unit calculates the error included in each of measured-rotation angle values. The frequency component acquisition unit determines the phase and the amplitude of a frequency component of the error based on the errors. Thus, by using the error frequency component acquisition device, the phase and amplitude of the frequency component of the error included in the measured-rotation angle value can be automatically calculated and the correction with respect to the measure-rotation angle value can be performed using the acquired phase and amplitude. Therefore, the rotation angle of the rotor with less error can be obtained, while reducing the burden of the operator.

The surface of the surface processed layer of the non-magnetic substrate has protrusions whose surfaces are made flat and a configuration which exhibits a three-dimensional bearing curve in which the bearing ratio at a section taken at a depth from the top of the surface which corresponds to the portion of the top portion deformed by the head load during the contact start-stops drive is between 0.1% and 10%. The protrusions formed on the surface processed layer have a height ranging from several nm to several tens of nm. The bearing ratio is a value obtained at a depth of 5 to 10 nm from the top of the protrusions.

In a magnetic recording medium having a non-magnetic disk substrate and a magnetic film formed on the surface of the non-magnetic disk substrate, a surface average roughness factor Ra(r) on the surface of the medium being from 0.3 nm to 3 nm, an orientation ratio of coercivity being from 0.1 to 0.7, and an in-plane magnetic anisotropic energy being from 3.times.10.sup.4 J/m.sup.3 to 5.times.10.sup.5 J/m.sup.3. By using such a medium, it is possible to provide a magnetic recording apparatus in which the magnetic head is capable of flying in a low position and high-density recording is achieved.
