    摘要: A fuel injection nozzle for an internal combustion engine includes a hollow nozzle body and a valve member liftably disposed therein. The nozzle body and the valve member define a space therebetween through which fuel is supplied to an orifice in the nozzle body. The valve member contacts the nozzle body at a position to block communication between the space and the orifice when the valve member is in the unlifted position. Fuel enters the orifice from the space as the valve member lifts. The valve member and nozzle body have opposing surfaces establishing a gap between the space and orifice. The gap has a cross-sectional area smaller than that of the orifice that remains constant as the valve member lifts through a predetermined range so that the rate of fuel injection increases through a plateau as the valve member lifts to a position above the predetermined range.

    摘要: A device for detecting engine knock is disclosed. The device comprises a bipolar vibration sensor secured to a spark ignition internal combustion engine and has first and second outputs for generating respectively signals representing individual ringing engine vibrations due to engine knock and signals representing the background engine vibrations due to engine operation, separately. A smoothing circuit is connected to the second output side of the vibration sensor for forming a means value of the background engine vibration signals. A comparator circuit has a first input terminal connected to the first output side of the vibration sensor and a second input terminal connected to the output side of the smoothing circuit for comparing the mean value of the outputs of the smoothing circuit with the peak value of the ringing engine vibration signals. A utilization circuit is connected to the output side of the comparator circuit for controlling the driving condition of the engine in an optimum manner. The bipolar vibration sensor comprises a first vibration section having a resonance frequency corresponding to the ringing vibration frequency due to engine knock and second vibration section having a resonance frequency different from the ringing vibration frequency.

    摘要: An engine system of the invention comprises an internal combustion engine; a carburetor; an exhaust gas recirculation system; an exhaust gas treatment device; and a source of secondary air, in which there is provided a fluid network which interconnects the source of secondary air, the engine exhaust system at a position upstream of the exhaust gas treatment device and the exhaust gas recirculation system at a position upstream of an exhaust gas recirculation valve and there is also provided an air injection control valve fluidly disposed in the fluid network intermediate the source of secondary air and the exhaust gas recirculation system. The air injection control valve is adapted to selectively permit and prevent the admission of air to the exhaust gas recirculation system. A controller for the air injection control valve is also disclosed which comprises a detector that generates as an output signal a first signal responsive to urban driving conditions which are empirically determined to occur when the motor vehicle is driven in urban areas and a second signal responsive to rural driving conditions which are empirically determined to occur when the motor vehicle is driven in rural areas. The controller causes the air injection valve to permit the admission of air to the EGR system when the detector detects the rural driving conditions.
