An improved polyarylate resin is provided, which resin comprises the following units (I) to (IV) ##STR1## the units (I) being contained in an amount of from 3 to 30 mole %, the units (II) being contained in amount of not less than 30 mole %, the units (III) being contained in an amount of not less than 30 mole %, and the units (IV) being contained in an amount of not larger than 25 mole %, each based on the total moles of the units (I) to (IV). The polyarylate resin has good mechanical strength, heat resistance, resistance to color change, transparency, moldability and flame retardancy. A resin composition comprising the polyarylate resin, a polyamide and an epoxy resin is also provided.

When producing a graft modified polyolefin by melting and kneading a polyolefin, a radical-polymerizable monomer and a radical-polymerization initiator, the producing efficiency is improved. The grafting reaction is effected by feeding the melted polyolefin containing either one of said radical-polymerizable monomer and the radical-polymerization initiator to the other. When said radical-polymerizable monomer is an unsaturated carboxylic anhydride, said unsaturated carboxylic anhydride as a starting material is preliminarily heated at 50.degree. to 250.degree. C., and then fed to the grafting reaction mentioned above. A polycarbonate/polyolefin resin composition which has excellent wear property, mechanical strength and flame retardancy and which is adapted for use as a material for OA equipment, home appliance, automobile components, medical apparatus, and the like is provided. The polycarbonate/polyolefin resin composition contains a polycarbonate resin (A), a polyolefin resin (B), a modified polyolefin resin (C), a compound (D) represented by the formula (d): HOOC—R—NH2, a styrene copolymer resin (E), and a brominated polycarbonate oligomer and said diantimony tetraoxide and/or said diantimony pentaoxide (F) in a particular combination. The production process and an article molded from such resin composition are also provided.

A heat-curable composition comprises 30-70 mass % of a compound represented by formula (1) and 70-30 mass % of a compound represented by formula (2). In formulae (1) and (2), R1, R2, R3 and R4 are the same as or different from one another, and are independently selected from the group consisting of —H, —CH3, —C(CH3)3 and a group represented by formula (i) for each of compound molecules. In formula (i), Y is selected from the group consisting of —O—, —CH2— and —C(CH3)2—. The heat-curable composition containing the benzoxazine compound has excellent solubility in solvents, heat resistance and flame retardancy, and therefore can be used for providing a cured product of the composition or a varnish.

A thermosetting composition includes 30 to 70% by mass of a compound represented by Formula (1) below and 70 to 30% by mass of a compound represented by Formula (2) below: In Formulae (1) and (2), R1, R2, R3 and R4 may be the same or different from one another and are each selected independently with respect to each molecule of the compounds from the group consisting of —H, —CH3, —C(CH3)3 and a group represented by Formula (i) below: In Formula (i), Y is selected from the group consisting of —O—, —CH2— and —C(CH3)2—. This thermosetting composition including such benzoxazine compounds exhibits excellent solvent solubility, heat resistance and flame retardance. Thus, the composition may be provided as a thermosetting material and a varnish thereof.
