摘要: A signal processing system (100) comprises an input terminal (102), and a main path having a main filter input gain unit (126) coupled to said input terminal (102), a main filter (132) and an output gain unit (138). An auxiliary path includes an auxiliary filter input gain unit (106) coupled to the input terminal (102), an auxiliary filter (112) and an auxiliary filter output gain unit (118). An adder (144) is coupled to the output gain units (118, 138) for generating an output signal to an output terminal (148). The gains of the gain units are adjusted by a control unit (18) responsive to a detecting signal from a detector (160).

摘要: Analog signals can be fully encoded as an asynchronous time sequence generated by a time encoding machine (TEM). With knowledge of the parameters of the time encoding machine, the asynchronous time sequence can be decoded using a non-linear time decoding machine. In one embodiment, the non-linear time decoding machine generates a set of weighted Dirac delta functions centered in the intervals of the asynchronous time sequence of the time encoding machine output. The weighting of each of the delta functions is determined by the parameters of the TEM as well as the values of the time sequence. The generation of the series of delta functions is a nonlinear operation (500, 510, 520). The input signal can be recovered from the series of weighted delta functions by (530) applying this series through an impulse response filter.

摘要: A cellulosic starting material, substantially devoid of nitrogen values is moistened to bring its water content to at least 50%, pasteurized by steam treatment during which the temperature is increased to a maximum of about 70.degree. C and maintained at such temperature for about 12 hours during which time a relative humidity of about 100% is likewise maintained whereby the starting material is digested. The material is cooled to about 55.degree. C to proliferate thermophilic metabolite producing microorganisms. This temperature is maintained for about 36 hours and is then lowered to about 40.degree.-45.degree. C and maintained at that level for about 24 hours whereby another group of microorganisms is proliferated. The substrate so produced is cooled to 25.degree. C or less. The process provides the substrate with metabolites that protect it against microorganisms which compete for substrate carbon sources with the macrofungi to be cultivated on the substrate.

摘要: A process for the removal of non-sugar impurities from beet diffusion juice having essentially no beet tissue particles therein and comprising water, sugar, and dissolved and colloidal non-sugar impurities. The diffusion juice is subjected to a progressive preliming procedure to thereby produce a limed first juice fraction containing non-sugar flocs and a limed, floc-free second juice fraction. The fractions are separated and the floc-free fraction is subjected to cold and hot main liming. Subsequently, and without substantial mechanical or chemical degradation, at least a portion of the first juice fraction containing at least a portion of the non-sugar flocs is united with the main-limed second juice fraction in a first carbonation procedure wherein carbon dioxide reacts with the lime present to produce calcium carbonate precipitate which, in addition to being an adsorption filter aid, forms protective scales around the floc particles. The resulting single juice fraction is separated, further treated in a second carbonation procedure, and filtered for subsequent sugar crystallization.
