Abstract: A vehicular personalized adaptive cruise control system includes a forward-viewing camera viewing forward through a windshield of a vehicle, and an electronic control unit disposed at the vehicle. When the vehicle is operating in an adaptive cruise control mode, the system controls driving of the vehicle. When the equipped vehicle is not operating in the adaptive cruise control mode, a driver present in the vehicle drives the vehicle. The system identifies the driver via processing of image data captured by a cabin monitoring camera. When the identified driver drives the vehicle with the vehicle not operating in the adaptive cruise control mode, the system determines and stores personalized parameters for the identified driver. With the identified driver present in the vehicle, and when the vehicle is operating in the adaptive cruise control mode, the system uses the determined personalized parameters.

Abstract: A vehicular driving assistance system is operable to control driving of a vehicle when operating in a driving assist mode. When the vehicular driving assistance system is not operating in the driving assist mode, a driver controls driving of the vehicle. The system identifies the driver and receives information pertaining to operation by the identified driver of the vehicle while the vehicle is driven by the identified driver. The system generates first and second personalized parameter sets for the identified driver when the driver drives the vehicle during respective first and second driving conditions. When the system is operating in the driving assist mode and the identified driver is present in the vehicle, and responsive to a current driving condition of the vehicle corresponding to one of the determined driving conditions, the system controls the vehicle in accordance with the respective generated personalized parameter set for that driving condition.

Abstract: A stop-start control system for a vehicle includes a camera disposed at the vehicle and having a field of view exterior and forward of the vehicle. A control includes an image processor operable to process image data captured by the camera. Responsive to image processing of captured image data, the control determines the presence of a stopping area ahead of the vehicle and being approached by the vehicle. Responsive to determination of the presence of the stopping area ahead of the vehicle and being approached by the vehicle, and responsive to determination that the driver of the vehicle releases the accelerator pedal of the vehicle so the vehicle is coasting toward the determined stopping area, the control causes the engine to at least partially shut off.

Abstract: A method of vehicular control includes providing a camera and a control at a vehicle. Image data captured by the camera is processed at the control to determine presence of a stopping area ahead of the vehicle and being approached by the vehicle as the vehicle is maneuvered along the road. Responsive to determination of presence of the stopping area, and responsive to determination that the driver releases the accelerator pedal of the vehicle, the operating capacity of the vehicle engine is reduced so that the engine operates at reduced capacity as the vehicle moves toward and stops, via the driver applying the brake pedal of the vehicle, at the determined stopping area. After stopping the vehicle, the control determines if a hazard is present in the field of view of the camera and restores the operating capacity of the engine its normal operating capacity if no hazard is present.

Abstract: A method for controlling a vehicle includes providing a plurality of sensors and a control at an equipped vehicle and identifying a driver present in the vehicle and capable of operating the vehicle. When the control is not operating in a driving assist mode and the identified driver is operating the vehicle, and responsive to processing data received at the data processor, a personalized parameter set is created for the identified driver based on how the identified driver operates the equipped vehicle during determined driving conditions. When the control is operating in a driving assist mode, and responsive to a current driving condition of the vehicle, the vehicle is controlled (i) in accordance with the personalized parameter set for the identified driver present in the equipped vehicle and (ii) in accordance with data processing of data captured by at least some of the plurality of sensors.

Abstract: A method of vehicular control includes providing a camera and a control at a vehicle, and maneuvering the vehicle along a road while capturing image data via the camera. Image data captured by the camera is processed at the control to determine presence of a stopping area ahead of the vehicle and being approached by the vehicle as the vehicle is maneuvered along the road. Responsive to determination of presence of the stopping area, the operating capacity of the vehicle engine is reduced so that the engine operates at reduced capacity as the vehicle moves toward and stops at the determined stopping area. After stopping the vehicle at the stopping area, the control determines if a hazard is present in the field of view of the camera. Responsive to determining that no hazard is present, the operating capacity of the engine is restored to its normal operating capacity.

Abstract: A method for controlling a vehicle includes providing a plurality of sensors at an equipped vehicle, capturing, via the plurality of sensors, data, and determining, via processing by a data processor of data captured by at least some of the plurality of sensors, information pertaining to distance to other vehicles present exterior the equipped vehicle. Information is determined pertaining to lane geometry of a lane of a road along which the equipped vehicle is traveling. Information is provided pertaining to at least one of (i) acceleration of the equipped vehicle, (ii) braking of the equipped vehicle and (iii) steering of the equipped vehicle. Information is provided identifying a driver operating the equipped vehicle. Responsive to identification of the driver operating the equipped vehicle, the equipped vehicle is controlled in accordance with a personalized parameter set for the identified driver and in accordance with data processing by the data processor.
