Abstract: A communication device performs a clear channel assessment (CCA) procedure to determine whether the communication device can transmit in a shared wireless communication medium, wherein the communication device is in a first basic service set (BSS) associated with a virtual access point (AP) implemented by a physical AP, and wherein the first BSS corresponds to a first BSS identifier. Performing the CCA procedure includes: for first signals having the first BSS identifier or having one or more second BSS identifiers corresponding to other virtual APs implemented by the physical AP, comparing energy of the signals to a first threshold; and for first signals determined by the communication device to have one or more third BSS identifiers, wherein the one or more third BSS identifiers correspond to other physical APs, comparing energy of the signals to a second threshold lower than the first threshold.

Abstract: A communication device of a first wireless network determines that a first value of a first basic service set (BSS) color identifier is the same as a value of a second BSS color identifier corresponding to a neighboring second wireless network. In response, the communication device determines a second value of the first BSS color identifier. The communication device transmits one or more packets that each include i) an indication that the first BSS color identifier is changing, ii) the second value of the first BSS color identifier, and iii) a respective integer number of remaining beacon intervals corresponding to a start time when the second value of the first BSS color identifier will supersede the first value of the first BSS color identifier. Based on the start time, the communication device begins to use the second value of the first BSS color identifier with communications in the first wireless network.

Abstract: For a first group of devices having a first group size, a set of block allocations is selected from a codebook. A block allocation for the first group of devices is selected from the selected set of block allocations. A corresponding integer number of different orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) tone blocks is assigned to each device of the first group of devices according to the allocation. An orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) data unit to be transmitted to the first group of devices via the WLAN communication channel is generated using the assigned set of OFDM tone blocks. The OFDMA data unit includes a preamble portion and a data portion, the preamble portion having an index to the codebook that indicates i) the first group size, and ii) the selected block allocation.

Abstract: In aspects of acknowledgement options for downlink multi-user transmission, a wireless network system includes an access point that can communicate a downlink multi-user transmission soliciting acknowledgement from one or more station devices. The access point can receive an association request or an operation mode change request frame from one or more of the station devices, and determine an acknowledgement option for each of the station devices that communicate the request to the access point. The access point can then use a multi-user transmission mode or a single user transmission mode for each of the station devices based on the acknowledgement option determined for each of the respective station devices.

The method includes creating a first signal and a second signal each comprising a plurality of information fields. The method includes determining respective intervals for repeated transmissions of each of the first signal and the second signal. Abstract: A method of determining whether a wireless communication medium is clear is carried out on a client device, and includes: associating with a first virtual access point (AP) of a plurality of virtual APs implemented by a physical AP; receiving, from a physical AP, a message identifying the basic service set (BSS) color of each of the plurality of virtual APs implemented by on the physical AP; detecting a packet data unit; measuring the energy of the packet data unit; decoding a BSS color from the packet data unit; if the decoded BSS color is the same as a BSS color in the message from the physical AP, then setting an energy threshold to a first level; if the decoded BSS color is not the same as any BSS color in the message from the physical AP, then setting an energy threshold to a second level, wherein the second level is higher than the first level; and transmitting or refraining from transmitting a packet data unit based on a comparison of the measured energy and the energy threshold.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes systems and techniques relating to broadcast and multicast in a wireless communication system. In some implementations, an announcement frame indicating a broadcast or multicast service period to multiple second wireless devices is transmitted by a first wireless device. The announcement frame indicates (i) an end time of the broadcast or multicast service period and (ii) an order of a sequence of frames to be directed to the multiple second wireless devices. Each of the sequence of frames is transmitted at the first wireless device using a directional antenna pattern to a respective one of the multiple second wireless devices, according to the order of the sequence of frames indicated in the announcement frame. An acknowledgement frame in response to the each of the sequence of frames is received at the first wireless device from the respective one of the multiple second wireless devices.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide an apparatus for wireless communication. The apparatus includes a transceiver and a processing circuit. The transceiver is configured to transmit and receive wireless signals. The processing circuit is configured to detect an error of a previous scheduled transmission of data units from the apparatus to another apparatus. The other apparatus provides scheduled resources for transmission between the two apparatuses. Further, the processing circuit is configured to determine resources that are scheduled by the other apparatus for the apparatus to perform retransmission, and provide one or more of the data units in the previous scheduled transmission to the transceiver for retransmission using the scheduled resources.
