    摘要: Architecture for managing clutch height in an optical navigational device such as a computer mouse. In one embodiment for a mouse, a feature can be molded into the bottom case that limits the clutch height by occluding the reflected light to the image sensor when the device is lifted from the tracking surface. Tracking is disabled when the clutch height threshold is exceeded, and re-enabled when the device is brought under the distance clutch height threshold. The device includes firmware controlled algorithm adjustments to one or more correlation parameters. When employing a D-shaped aperture, a threshold can be placed on the z-axis height tracking distance using dimensional characteristics of the shaped aperture, such as a knife-edge (the straight portion of the “D” shaped aperture), to impose a shadow across the image sensor. The aperture can be custom designed to occlude a portion of the emitted light from an LED.

    摘要: Media is transported to an imaging region using a vacuum feeder. A vacuum head is positioned onto the media and a vacuum is applied to the vacuum head to hold the media against the vacuum head. The vacuum head is then relocated to the imaging region carrying with it the media. In one embodiment, the vacuum head holds the media slightly above the surface of the imaging region. After the media is imaged, the vacuum head moves the media to an output region. In the output region the vacuum is removed from the vacuum head allowing the media to detach from the vacuum head and remain in the output region. In another embodiment, the vacuum is removed from the vacuum head allowing the media to detach from the vacuum head and remain in the imaging region. A second vacuum head is positioned in the imaging region onto the media and a vacuum is applied to the second vacuum head to hold the media against the second vacuum head. The second vacuum head is then relocated to the output region carrying with it the media. The second vacuum head moves the media to an output region. In the output region the vacuum is removed from the second vacuum head allowing the media to detach from the second vacuum head and remain in the output region.

    摘要: An optical assembly with having a dust seal incorporated therein is disclosed. The optical assembly has a first portion and a second portion separated by a space wherein at least one optical component is located in the space. The dust seal may be a section of polyolefin tubing or heat shrink tubing that encompasses the space. The dust seal is placed adjacent a section of the first portion and a section of the second portion. Heat is then applied to the dust seal, which causes it to shrink and, thus, conform to the first portion and the second portion. The conforming dust seal seals the optical assembly and prevents contaminants from interfering with the optical components located in the space.
