To provide a capacitative device capable of accurately securing a capacitance value, a variable capacitative device capable of sufficiently securing a capacity variability rate, and a resonance circuit that uses the capacitative devices. A capacitative device according to the present invention includes a capacitative device body constituted of a dielectric layer and at least a pair of capacitative device electrodes that sandwich the dielectric layer and cause a desired electric field in the dielectric layer; and stress adjustment portions to adjust a stress caused in the dielectric layer of the capacitative device body.

By a process for producing a porous carbon material from a plant-derived material as a raw material, said process including carbonizing the plant-derived material at 800° C. to 1,400° C. and then applying a treatment with an acid or alkali, a porous carbon material having a value of specific surface area of at least 10 m2/g as measured by the nitrogen BET method, a silicon content of at most 1 wt % and a pore volume of at least 0.1 cm3/g is obtainable from a plant-derived material, which has a silicon content of at least 10 wt %, as a raw material. Also provided is a process for producing a porous carbon material equipped with excellent functionality so that the porous carbon material can be used, for example, as an anode material for batteries, an adsorbent, masks, adsorbing sheets, or carriers.

A charging circuit includes a generator, a step-down circuit for reducing an output voltage of the generator to a predetermined voltage, a current controller for controlling a charging current that is supplied from the step-down circuit to a secondary battery, based on an amount of power generated by the generator, a mode selector for selecting charging modes, and a monitor for monitoring an amount of stored electricity. The step-down circuit receives an output of the generator, in charging, at a high voltage and a small current and is used to charge the battery at a low voltage and a large current.

A fuel cell is provided which can control an optimum fuel concentration according to an output without a sensor for measuring the fuel concentration. The fuel cell uses a liquid organic compound for fuel and includes a membrane-electrode assembly, a passage for allowing fuel or oxidant to flow, a fuel supply unit for supplying the fuel to the fuel cell and intermittently or periodically changing a rate of fuel supply, and a computation processor for measuring a signal of a voltage or an output of the fuel cell, computing the rate of the fuel supply and the signal, and correcting the rate of the fuel supply. In the fuel cell, the optimum fuel concentration can be easily controlled according to the output by periodically varying the fuel concentration from a reference fuel concentration, measuring a voltage or an output and a variation range of the voltage or the output, and then determining whether the reference fuel concentration is appropriate or not.

An electrostatic capacitance element includes: a dielectric layer; and a pair of electrodes or a plurality of pairs of electrodes having one electrode formed on one surface of the dielectric layer and the other electrode formed on the other surface of the dielectric layer by interposing the dielectric layer therebetween. The one electrode and the other electrode are arranged such that longitudinal directions of the electrodes intersect with each other. In addition, the one electrode and/or the other electrode have at least two electrode widths. In a case where the one electrode is formed to be relatively shifted with respect to the other electrode, an area of the electrodes overlapping in a thickness direction of the dielectric layer by interposing the dielectric layer can be changed in a continuous manner or a stepwise manner.
