摘要: Its basic means is a monolithically bonded construct prepared by monolithically bonding together a rare-earth magnet 2 and a an alloy material that is a high melting point metal or a high specific-tenacity material through the solid phase diffusion bonding by the hot isostatic pressing treatment, and a monolithically bonded construct with an interposal of a thin layer of the high melting point metal between a rare-earth magnet 2 and an alloy material 3, 4 that is a high specific-tenacity material. As a method for the bonding, there is used a hot isostatic pressing treatment method in which a rare-earth An magnet and a high melting-point metal are laminated together, thereby to prepare an object to be treated, then the object is put into a hermetic-type high pressure container having an inner wall portion equipped with a heater, then the object is uniformly pressurized in all directions by a synergistic effect caused by pressure and temperature, while the object is maintained for a certain period of time under a certain pressure and temperature condition in an atmosphere of an inert gas, thereby to monolithically bond the object. With this, it is possible to obtain a bonded construct in which a magnet can monolithically be bonded with another metal member with a high strength, without deteriorating magnetic characteristics, such that the rare-earth magnet's insufficiency in brittleness, rigidity, tenacity and the like is compensated.

摘要: An image forming apparatus has plural image forming stations along a travel direction of a transfer medium. Each image forming station has a latent image carrier that rotates in a sub scanning direction, an image writer that forms a latent image on the latent image carrier and a developer that has a toner carrier extending along a main scanning direction approximately perpendicular to the sub scanning direction. Each image writer has a line head near the latent image carrier with light emitting elements arranged in a row along the main scanning direction. Rotation drive force developing at one common motor is transmitted to plural places in sections of the apparatus to superimpose toner images one atop the other. A motor main section of the common motor overlaps the transfer medium in the in-plane arrangement viewed from a vertical direction perpendicular to both the main and sub scanning directions.

摘要: It is intended to provide an artificial mammalian chromosome which is stably held in mammalian cells and allows efficient expression of a target gene carried thereby. Namely, a first cyclic vector containing a mammalian centromere sequence and a selection marker gene and a second cyclic vector containing a functional sequence are transferred into mammalian host cells. Then transformed cells are selected by using the above-described selection marker gene and cells holding an artificial mammalian chromosome are selected from among the transformed cells thus selected. Thus, it is possible to construct an artificial mammalian chromosome which has a mammalian replication origin, the mammalian centromere sequence and the functional sequence, is in a cyclic form, can be replicated in mammalian cells, extrachromosomally held in the host cells and transferred to daughter cells in cell division.

摘要: A process for forming contact material of an electrode comprises the steps of preparing chromium of which oxygen content is substantially reduced, forming a molten mixture of the chromium and copper, atomizing the molten mixture into fine particles to obtain Cu-Cr alloyed powder, compacting Cu-Cr alloyed powder under desired pressure, and sintering the compacted alloyed powder. The oxygen content of the chromium may be reduced until less than 0.1 wt %. In a course of the process, a metal having melting point lower then copper may be blended. The metal may be blended in Cu-Cr alloyed powder, or blended in the molten mixture of copper and chromium. Alternatively, the process further includes the steps of forming a second molten mixture of copper and a metal having melting point lower than copper, atomizing the second molten mixture into fine particles to obtain alloyed powder of copper and the metal, and blending Cu-Cr alloyed powder with the alloyed powder of copper and the metal. The metal may be selected from one or mixture of the metals consisting of bismuth, lead, tellurium, antimony and selenium.

摘要: To achieve thinner liquid crystal display panels and to reduce the power consumption for turning on a backlight during an image display operation to a minimum amount, a controller controls display operations of a main display panel and a sub-display panel via a first driver and a second driver. Based on the controlling of the display operations, the controller performs lighting control of LEDs of a backlight corresponding to the dimensions and position of the display panel used for image display. Accordingly, the backlight can be turned on for the display panel used for image display by consuming a minimum amount of power. Furthermore, the backlight includes a light-guiding plate and multiple LEDs and can emit light from both sides of the backlight, thus achieving reduction in thickness.
