Process for the preparation of an additive-containing anionic clay comprising the steps of (a) preparing a physical mixture of a divalent and a trivalent metal compound, (b) calcining the physical mixture at a temperature in the range 200-800° C. without performing a prior aging or shaping step, thereby forming a product containing at least 5 wt % of a rehydratable compound, and (c) rehydrating the calcined mixture in aqueous suspension containing an additive to form the additive-containing anionic clay.This process provides a simple and cost-effective way of preparing additive-containing anionic clays. The process does neither require aging or reaction steps before calcination, nor does it require precipitation of metal salts or the handling of inhomogeneous slurries.

Economical and environment-friendly processes for the synthesis of anionic clays and anionic clay-like materials with acetate anions as the charge-balancing interlayer species are disclosed. The processes involve combining a slurry of a gibbsite or its thermally treated form with a slurry or solution of a magnesium source and magnesium acetate. The product is not washed, needs no filtration and exists in a close-to-neutral pH condition. The product can be spray dried directly to form microspheres, or it can be extruded to form shaped bodies. Because of the absence of foreign salts, the product can be combined with other ingredients in the manufacture of catalysts, absorbents, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, detergents and other commodity products that contain anionic clays.

The invention relates to a catalyst composition comprising anionic clay, lanthanum (hydr)oxide carbonate, and cerium oxide. This composition can suitably be used in FCC for the reduction of NOx and/or SOx emissions, the reduction of the S and/or N-content in fuels, and as a metal trap. The composition can be prepared by forming a precipitate from a solution comprising a divalent metal salt, a trivalent metal salt, a lanthanum salt, and a cerium salt, calcining the precipitate at 200-800° C., and rehydrating the calcined precipitate in the presence of a carbonate source to form a composition comprising anionic clay, lanthanum (hydr)oxide carbonate, and cerium oxide.

An applicator for dispensing adhesive material, includes a container body, and an applicator tip, where the adhesive material is located in the container body in a non-contacting relationship with the applicator tip prior to dispensing said adhesive material. The applicator tip has a proximal open end open toward said container body for attachment to the container body, a distal end having at least one orifice, a restrictive flow portion located between the proximal end and the distal end, and a flow reducing portion located between the restrictive flow portion and the distal end. The applicator tip defines a fluid flow channel from the proximal end to the distal end and through the restrictive flow portion and the flow reducing portion, where the applicator tip permits the adhesive material to pass through the applicator tip and exit the applicator tip at the at least one orifice.
