摘要： Imidazolidinone compounds of the formula: ##STR1## where R is a C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 alkylene group, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently H or C(.dbd.O)R.sup.4, R.sup.3 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group optionally substituted with one or more alkoxy groups or interrupted by one or more ether oxygen atoms, and R.sup.4 is a hydrocarbon group substituted with an active hydrogen functional group are useful as chain extending monomers providing pendant imidazolidinone functionality to polyurethane/urea and epoxy polymers. The subject imidazolidinone compounds may also be incorporated into polyester/polyamide polyols or reacted to prepare radically polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer and prepolymer compounds used in the synthesis of emulsion polymers.

摘要： Improved anionic water dispersible polyurethanes are disclosed. Polyurethane-urea polymers in aqueous dispersion are obtained by chain extending an NCO-containing prepolymer in aqueous medium. The NCO-containing prepolymer is prepared by reacting a polyisocyanate with an active hydrogen-containing compound such as a polyol and dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA) to form a pre-prepolymer and to this is added a diamine monomer containing a pendant aliphatic, to form the prepolymer which is then dispersed in water and chain extended. The improved anionic water dispersible polyurethane polymers of the invention form excellent coatings and adhesives.

摘要： Melamine-formaldehyde based adhesive compositions having enhanced bond strengths when subjected to thermal and mechanical stresses. The invention further describes a process wherein melamine-formaldehyde resins are reacted with amines in the presence of water-based sulfonated polyurethane-urea polymers. The process substantially reduces the release of formaldehyde and generates a network of interpenetrating polymers having enhanced peel adhesion failure temperatures.

The aqueous anionic poly(urethane/urea) dispersions have high heat resistance after curing or blending with a crosslinker.

摘要： Compounds containing a ureido group which are useful in preparing dispersions of polymers having good wet adhesion properties and low volatility. Compounds having the formula: ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is H or an alkyl group, R.sup.2 is alkylene optionally interrupted with one or more ether oxygen atoms and A is H or a residue of an active hydrogen reactive compound are useful for incorporating ureido and optionally nitrile functionality into polymers and as precursors to amino compounds prepared by reduction of the nitrile group thereof. Compounds having the formula: ##STR2## where B is defined as for A and the same or different than A are also disclosed. The disclosed compounds have use as chain extending or terminating monomers for polyurethane dispersions when one or both of A and B are H and, when one of A and has ethylenic unsaturation, as wet adhesion monomers in dispersions of free radically polymerized polymers of unsaturated monomers.
