摘要: A catheter introducer sheath assembly, for introduction into a body passage of a catheter containing a filter comprises a flexible introducer sheath joined to the distal end of a closure device forming a through-passage with a diameter sufficient to pass the catheter therethrough. The closure device has a resilient member in the through-passage and two rotatable body portions, one stationary with respect to the resilient member, and the other rotatable about the axis of the resilient member with an internal cam circumferentially spaced around the axis. A compression member positioned radially in an extending aperture makes contact with both the resilient member and the cam surface to vary the through-passage allowing the operator to manually control the passage of the device. The sheath assembly receives a cathetory guidewire that slides through and extends beyond the closure device and the sheath. In another aspect, the combination sheath assembly and closure device forms a catheter introducer kit constructed to receive a stabilizer and a catheter of sufficiently large diameter to house a vena cava filter, and to pass the filter through the closure device and sheath for placement in the body by means of a dilator attached to the end of the sheath to facilitate guiding the filter to the desired position for its release from the sheath. The closure device is adjustable to prevent any backflow of fluid such as blood from the assembly during the filter placement procedure.

摘要: Various methods for implanting a stent into an ostium or a proximal portion of a body vessel utilizing a guide catheter, rather than a convention balloon angioplasty balloon catheter, as the primary delivery device are disclosed. The guide catheter can be used as the primary stent delivery catheter for the ostium region of the body vessel and can be anchored to the vessel to allow secondary treatment devices to be advanced to distal locations in the body vessel.

摘要: A method is provided including introducing a delivery device through a vessel wall to a treatment site within one of a peri-adventitial space or a pericardium adjacent a coronary blood vessel and delivering a treatment agent through the delivery device. The treatment agent is delivered through the delivery device according to conditions that hydraulically dissect tissue planes within the peri-adventitial space. A kit is provided including a delivery device having a needle to be advanced through one of an epicardium of a heart and a wall of a coronary blood vessel into a peri-adventitial space and a treatment agent comprising particles having an average diameter on the order of 15 microns or more to be delivered through the delivery device into the peri-adventitial space.

摘要: Sterilization methods for implantable prostheses are described where a polymeric stent may be sterilized, e.g., via ETO sterilization, at a temperature below a glass transition temperature of the stent. A separate delivery catheter may be sterilized separately and the stent and delivery catheter may then be combined in an aseptic or semi-aseptic environment and sterilized as an assembled system such that the requirements for sterilizing the system are relatively lower. Additionally and/or alternatively, valve and filter assemblies may be used with an optional mandrel assembly for maintaining sterility of the internal components of a catheter system.
