摘要： Novel compounds, 4-tert.-butyl-1,2-benzenedithiol and bis(4-tert.-butyl-1,2-dithiophenolate) metal complexes having the general formula of ##STR1## wherein M represents a trivalent transition metal, and A represents a quarternary ammonium are provided.The novel benzenedithiol is produced by reacting 4-tert.-butylbenzenethiol or di(4-tert.-butylphenyl)disulfide with sulfur monochloride in the presence of iodine or a Lewis acid in a solvent, and then reducing the resultant product with a metal selected from the group consisting of zinc, tin, iron and aluminum in the presence of an acid.The novel Cu, Co and Ni complexes are produced by reacting the benzenedithiol with a salt of the corresponding divalent transition metal in the presence of an alkoxide metal or a hydride metal and a quarternary ammonium salt in a solvent under an oxidative atmosphere.The complexes strongly absorb rays in the region of ultraviolet, visible or near infrared, and are useful intermediates for the production of optical information recording media.

摘要： In a process of producing high purity bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)sulfides which comprises reacting phenols with sulfur dichloride in an organic solvent, the improvement comprising: reacting the phenols with sulfur dichloride in a nonpolar organic solvent; removing partly or wholly the nonpolar organic solvent after the reaction; adding a polar organic solvent to the reaction mixture to dissolve the reaction mixture therein at elevated temperatures; and crystallizing out the high purity bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)sulfides.There is further provided a high performance heat-sensitive recording material which comprises high purity bis(4-hydroxy-3-methylphenyl)sulfide thus prepared and having a melting point in the range of from 123.9.degree. C. to 124.9.degree. C. as a developer and a fluoran compound as a color former.

摘要： An optical modulation apparatus that performs optimum bias voltage control for optical modulation without using a pilot tone. A drive unit generates a drive signal by adding a bias voltage to an input data signal. A light modulation unit modulates input light output from a light source unit, in accordance with the drive signal, and outputs the results as optical signals. A forward monitoring unit monitors a forward signal of the light modulation unit and outputs the forward signal. A reverse monitoring unit monitors a reverse signal of the light modulation unit and outputs a reverse signal. A bias control unit controls the bias voltage so that a measured monitor ratio matches a target value of the ratio between the forward signal and the reverse signal, obtained when the operating point of the light modulation unit is in a predetermined position on its operation characteristic curve.

摘要： A vehicle-pedal backward-displacement preventing device. A pedal bracket has side plates each including a front end at which the pedal bracket is attached to the dash pane. A bulge protrudes in a protruding direction away from the other of the side plates. An operating pedal having a depressible portion is provided by its lower end portion. A guide member is associated with an upper end portion of the pedal bracket and a vehicle body member. The guide member causes the upper end portion of the pedal bracket to be downwardly displaced, upon displacement of the pedal bracket, whereby the pedal bracket is deformed with the side plates being made to buckle, so as to restrain the displacement of the depressible portion of the operating pedal toward a driver's seat. Each side plate has an aperture located in its region which includes a crest portion of the bulge, such that a strength of each side plate against a load is reduced most in the crest portion. Each side plate therefore can be made to buckle with the crest portion being displaced in the protruding direction.
