    摘要: An intervertebral disc augmentation implant for implantation between a pair of vertebral bodies comprises an elastically deformable outer casing having at least one thickness dimension and a core member having isotropic material properties. The core member is entirely encased within the outer casing and has a height dimension along an axis defined by the pair of vertebral bodies. The modulus of elasticity of the core member is greater than a modulus of elasticity of the outer casing, and the height dimension of the core member is greater than the at least one thickness dimension of the outer casing.

    摘要: A bone anchor assembly is provided, which may be used in cervical, thoracic, lumbar or sacral areas of the spine or other orthopedic locations. The anchor assembly includes a bone anchor, a receiver mounted to the bone anchor, a saddle within the receiver, a spacer within the receiver, and an engaging member. The receiver extends along a central longitudinal axis proximally away from the bone anchor. A rod or other elongated connecting element is received in a passage of the receiver in contact with the saddle, and the engaging member engages the connecting element against the saddle, which engages the saddle against the spacer, which in turn engages the proximal head of the bone anchor in the receiver. The orientation of the saddle in the receiver is adjustable to correspond to the orientation of the connecting element relative to the central longitudinal axis of the receiver.

    摘要: Methods and instrumentation for surgical procedures relating to preparation of vertebral bodies and a disc space for insertion of spinal implants is disclosed. One instrument is a shim having a blade and a shaft having a first end connected with the blade. The blade is inserted into a distracted disc space to maintain distraction during subsequent procedures. Another instrument is a driver for driving the blade of the shim into the distracted disc space. Various methods contemplate the use of these instruments to maintain disc space distraction during disc space preparation for receiving an implant.

    摘要: A spinal disc replacement surgical instrument includes a first contacting member positionable along an endplate of a first vertebra and a second contacting member positionable along an endplate of second vertebra. The second contacting member is moveable relative to the first contacting member. A handle assembly is coupled to the first contacting member and the second contacting member. At least one actuating member is positioned between the first contacting member and the second contacting member. The at least one actuating member is moveable by the hand assembly from a first position, wherein the first and second contacting members include an unexpanded configuration relative to one another for insertion in the spinal cavity, to a second position providing expanded configuration relative to one another. The actuating member is configured to displace at least one of the first contacting member and the second contacting member away from each other to move the first contacting member and the second contacting member between the first position and the second position. The first contacting member has a first distal end and the second contacting member has a second distal end. The first end has a first end shape configured to conform to a shape of the first vertebra and the second end has a second end shape configured to conform to a shape of the second vertebra. The first end shape and the second end shape are different shapes.

    摘要: The present application is directed to devices and methods for attaching one or more elongated members to a posterior surface of a vertebral member. The devices may include a body with a first face that contacts the vertebral member and a second opposite face. A hook may extend outward from the first face to engage the vertebral member. The body may also include one or more receivers to receive the elongated members. An engagement member may be movably connected to the body. The engagement member may include a first section that contacts the body, and a second section that includes a second hook. The engagement member may be positioned relative to the body to adjust a distance between the first and second hooks to attach the body to the vertebral member. A fastener may secure the engagement member to the body at the desired position. The fastener may also attach the one or more elongated members to the body.
