摘要: An ion source using a corona discharge for ionizing a sample at high efficient is provided. In the corona discharge generated at a tip end of a needle electrode by application of high voltage thereto, the direction in which the sample is introduced to the region of corona discharge and the direction in which ions are drawn out of the corona discharge region are substantially opposed to each other to improve the efficiency of ionization and to maintain a stable discharge for a long period of time.

摘要: An explosive detection system includes an X-ray inspection apparatus, a mover for moving an object to be inspected to the X-ray inspection apparatus, a sample introduction probe for sampling a gas sample from the object to be inspected, a pipe for introducing the sampled gas into a corona discharge region and for subjecting the sampled gas to negative corona discharge to ionize the sampled gas and to generate negative ions. A mass spectrometer is provided to analyze the mass of the negative ions of the sampled gas and to provide results thereof. Inspection by the X-ray inspection apparatus is performed in relation to sampling of the gas sample, and explosive detection system inspects whether or not an explosive is present in the object to be inspected, from the analysis results of the sampled gas.

摘要: The present invention is to provide a monitoring device making it possible to measure the concentration of a target trace gas which has an ionization efficiency changed by the affect of impurities and which is absorbed on a pretreatment portion or piping, at a high accuracy and at real time, by adding an internal standard having a known concentration to the target trace gas. The concentration of the target trace gas is measured while an internal standard having substantially the same properties (such as ionization efficiency change and vapor pressure) as the target trace gas is added. The ion strengths of the target trace gas and the internal standard are compared to calibrate the concentration of the target trace gas. According to the present invention, the concentration of the target trace gas in gas containing impurities can be online measured at a real time and at high accuracy while being continuously calibrated.

摘要: There was previously no monitoring method and monitoring apparatus which could measure dioxins at ppt levels and dioxin precursors at ppb levels with high sensitivity. According to this invention, organic and inorganic compounds containing highly electronegative elements are selectively ionized by atmospheric pressure chemical ionization, the ions produced are detected by a mass spectrometer, and their amount is measured. As a result, interfering substances such as nitrogen, air, hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide which are the main components of flue gas are eliminated, and dioxins or organochlorine compounds such as dioxin precursors can be selectively monitored.

摘要: Plasma ion source mass spectrometers or liquid chromatograph/mass spectrometers are provided: wherein photon noises and matrix molecule ions produced by the ion source are decreased, the decrease of the quantity of signal is suppressed, and the apparatus maintenance is improved. The photon noises are decreased with a shielding plate and a 90 degrees deflector. The maintainability in cleaning is improved by a combination of a leading electrode, the shielding plate having a small hole, and a gate valve. The decrease in the quantity of signal is suppressed with the leading electrode, and a double cylindrical type static lens. Position adjustment of the leading electrode is performed with a flat plate having plural holes. Using an ion trap mass analyzer, matrix molecule ions are eliminated by applying a resonance voltage between its end cap electrodes. Decrease in the quantity of signals, which has been a problem, can be prevented, and a high transmission can be realized with a preferable reproducibility against disturbance of an electric field caused by ion lens and the like. A detectable limit of atomic ions of the sample can be improved by eliminating the matrix molecule ions.

摘要: A method for performing a mass calibration under an application of a desired ion peak position of mass spectrum attained by a mass scanning of ions of substance having a known value of m/z and the known value of m/z is added with a step for ejecting an amount of unnecessary ions not contributing to the aforesaid mass calibration accumulated in the aforesaid ion trap type mass analysis region prior to the aforesaid mass scanning operation. 摘要: A method of quickly detecting a handmade explosive in a bottle with a low erroneous alarm frequency is provided. A sample gas generated from a bottle placed on a bottle placement space is sucked-in, and ions of the sample gas are generated by an ion source and subjected to mass analysis. The presence/absence of a mass spectrum derived from the handmade explosive is determined from an obtained mass spectrum, and the result thereof is displayed on a monitor, thereby quickly detecting the handmade explosive in the bottle or the handmade explosive adhering to the surface of the bottle at a low erroneous alarm frequency.
