Abstract: A vehicle driving behavior monitoring and warning system that includes a host vehicle having a communication device that receives operating information of remote vehicles that are located within a predetermined zone of interest, a warning device and an electronic controller. The electronic controller is connected to the communication device and the warning device. The electronic controller evaluates operating information received by the communication device and determine whether or not one of the remote vehicles is operating with questionable driving behavior and determines whether or not the remote vehicle poses a potential threat to the host vehicle. In response to determining that the remote vehicle is operating with questionable driving behavior and poses a potential threat to the host vehicle, the electronic controller operates the warning device warning the operator of the host vehicle of the remote vehicle.

Abstract: A method for providing information to a driver of a vehicle includes obtaining host vehicle information that describes a first path to be traversed by a host vehicle, obtaining conflicting vehicle information that describes a second path to be traversed by a potentially conflicting vehicle, wherein the second path crosses the first path, determining a queue length representing a number of queued vehicles that are queued ahead of the host vehicle, determining a time-to-contact based on the host vehicle information and the conflicting vehicle information, and causing a warning alert to be output if the time-to-contact is less than a warning alert time value and the queue length is equal to or less than a warning alert length value.

Abstract: A traffic circle warning system and method employ a controller. The controller is configured to determine whether a traffic circle exists along a current travel path of the host vehicle based on remote vehicle information representing a travel condition of at least one remote vehicle. The controller is further configured to, upon determining that the traffic circle exists, evaluate a travel condition of the host vehicle relative to the traffic circle and the travel condition of the remote vehicle to determine whether to control a warning system onboard the host vehicle to issue a warning.
