    摘要: Video encoding and decoding apparatuses and methods capable of minimizing a random access delay are provided. The video encoding apparatus includes an encoding control unit which sets an intra frame (I-frame) interval of a base layer shorter than an I-frame interval of an enhancement layer, a base layer encoding unit which generates a base layer bitstream by reducing and encoding an original image according to the I-frame intervals set by the encoding control unit, and an enhancement layer encoding unit which generates an enhancement layer bitstream by decoding an enhancement layer image which is not temporally aligned with the base layer bitstream and referring to a predetermined image obtained by decoding the base layer bitstream and enlarging the decoded result.

    摘要: Video encoding and decoding methods and apparatuses are provided which are effective for error correction and error concealment in an error-prone environment. The video encoding method includes determining an encoding operation to encode raw video among a frame encoding operation, a top/bottom field encoding operation, and a left/right field encoding operation based on at least one characteristic of the raw video; and generating a bit stream by adaptively performing the encoding operation that is determined to encode the raw video. Further, video may be divided into frame pictures, top/bottom field pictures and left/right field pictures, and encoded accordingly. Therefore, a compression rate can be increased, and error correction and concealment can be effectively performed on a lost field by using a normally received field.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for encoding/decoding an image based on a region of interest (ROI). The method and apparatus provide error-resilience by duplicating ROI data in a variable manner according to image features or by reducing non-ROI data. The ROI based image encoding apparatus and method estimate a complexity for each block located in the ROI of an image, transform the image by creating more duplicate blocks for ROI blocks having high complexity and fewer duplicate blocks for ROI blocks having low complexity, and encode the transformed image.
