Abstract: A method for operating a lighting device having multiple light sources may include determining a measure of a supply voltage and switching the light sources into one or more parallel strands, wherein the light sources in each strand are connected in series, in each case according to the measured value of the supply voltage. Automatic determination of a number of light sources in at least one of the strands, the number corresponding to the largest whole number which, when multiplied by a specifiable forward voltage of each of the light sources, is less than the measured value of the supply voltage. During switching of the light sources the exact number of light sources determined in the at least one strand is connected in series.

Abstract: An LED includes a first active region for the emission of a first primary radiation and a second active region for the emission of a second primary radiation, separate connections, a first phosphor for the at least partial conversion of the first primary radiation into a first conversion radiation in such a way that the first phosphor forms a first emitting surface of the LED for the emission of a first illumination radiation, and a second emitting surface for the emission of a second illumination radiation, which has a different spectral profile than the first illumination radiation, the second illumination radiation originating from the second primary radiation, and the emitting surfaces being shaped and arranged in a plan view, looking at the LED counter to a main emitting direction thereof, such that an outer of the emitting surfaces as a continuous surface area encloses an inner of the emitting surfaces.

Abstract: A method for operating a lighting device which has a plurality of light sources includes ascertaining a measure of a supply voltage, switching the light sources into one or more parallel strings. The light sources are in each case connected in series in each string, depending on the supply voltage. The method further includes automatically ascertaining a number of light sources in at least one of the strings. The number corresponds to the largest integer number which, multiplied by a prespecifiable forward voltage of each of the light sources, is less than the supply voltage. When the light sources are switched into the at least one string precisely the number of light sources are connected in series. A switch is connected in parallel with each of the light sources, and either a variable resistor or a variable resistor is connected in series with each string of light sources.
