Abstract:
The present invention relates to a run-flat device for attaching a tubeless mounted assembly for a motor vehicle, and to such a mounted assembly incorporating said device. A device (30) according to the invention includes: a tire support structure (30), to be mounted around a rim having a plurality of pieces and comprising a reinforcing frame, and a bead lock means for locking the beads against the rim edge and connecting the support structure to the beads. According to the invention, the frame comprises an axial belt having at least one pair of ends opposite each other, separated by a connecting axial interstice, and connected therebetween by detachable connecting means (35, 36) for locking the belt, the support structure being radially split on both sides on the right of each interstice to enable the manual mounting of the device inside the casing by the gradual insertion therein of the structure, temporarily free of the connecting means.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a flat-running device intended for equipping a mounted assembly without an air chamber for a motor vehicle, and to such a mounted assembly incorporating this device. This device (30) comprises a wheel rim (10) with a plurality of blocks (10a and 10b) and a tire (20) comprising beads (21 and 22) mounted against flanges (12 and 13) of the rim, the device comprising: a structure (31) for supporting the tire, which structure is to be mounted around the rim and is divided into ring sectors (32) in the form of an arc of a circle, surmounted by a casing (34) which is intended for supporting the tire when the latter is running flat and which has two projecting lateral portions (34b) partially covering lateral faces (32b) of the structure, and means (33) for locking the beads against said flanges, which connect the annular supporting structure to the beads. According to the invention, these lateral portions incorporate means (34c) for holding the sectors, opposing the axial displacement of the latter under lateral forces in the event of a shock during running in the inflated state or in the event of running flat, so that these sectors remain surmounted by the casing.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a runflat device for a tubeless mounted assembly for a motor vehicle and an assembly incorporating said device. A device in accordance with the invention for a unit comprises a wheel rim having a plurality of pieces and a tire cover comprising beads mounted against the flanges of the rim, the device comprising: a support ring for mounting around the rim to support the tire cover following a drop in inflation pressure and divided into at least two ring sectors; and means for locking said beads against the flanges to connect the sectors to the beads. The device is such that each ring sector comprises a rigid wall which defines at least one internal volume and which defines the lateral faces of the ring sector.

Abstract:
This is an apparatus and system for integration of Central Tire Inflation (CTI) valve functionality directly into a wheel. The CTI valve may be attached to the wheel or integrated into the wheel. In addition, the CTI valve may have a valve body or the valve components can be installed directly into the wheel. An air passageway between the vehicle air source and the CTI valve and/or an air passageway from the CTI valve to the tire cavity can also be employed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a flat-running device designed to be fitted to a tubeless mounted assembly for a motor vehicle and such a mounted assembly incorporating this device. A flat-running device according to the invention, for a wheel rim (in several parts includes an annular supporting structure of the casing which is designed to be mounted around the rim and which is divided into sectors in an arc of a circle that are articulated together by connection means, and means for locking the beads against these edges which are designed to connect said annular supporting structure to these beads. The connection means including two spindles extending in the axial direction which are respectively attached in two adjacent sectors and which are connected together by an articulation extending in the circumferential direction of the device, said articulation consisting of at least one rigid lug with two through-holes or else of at least one flexible link with two loops, said at least one lug or said at least one link being articulated on these spindles by these two holes or loops, respectively.
Abstract:
In this invention a tire protection attachment system utilizes adherent materials or mechanical attachments to the wheel rim to hold a covering of protective material adjacent the sidewall of a tubeless tire mounted on a circular wheel rim. The mechanical attachments are made to the outwardly flaring circumferential flange section adjacent the sidewall and/or to the transverse wall section of the wheel rim. Attachments to the flange section are characterized by the use of a clamping ring, a specially designed clip, and/or a circumferential retaining device with a variable circumference. The various embodiments described include embodiments where an intermediate body for use with a clamping ring is affixed to the flange, a clamping ring is bolted directly onto the flange section, a clamping ring is screwed onto the flange section (with the flange section and clamping ring being provided with interfacing circumferentially arranged screw threaded portions), and/or a clamping ring that is snapped onto the flange via interfacing circumferentially arranged interlocking portions on the ring and flange. Attachments to the transverse wall section are typically based on attachments to a stud fastening a two piece wheel together or a lug stud. A wheel cover can also be included and held in position via these same mechanical attachments. Finally, the embodiments are intended to avoid attachment via members inserted intermediate the flange and the bead. Thus, the preferred embodiments do not include such elements.
