    摘要: Systems and methods for upgrading from one or more digital media assets to a set of digital media assets over a network are described. A potential purchaser can be notified of available upgrade opportunities that are available for purchase. The potential purchaser can elect to pursue an upgrade opportunity so as to purchase a set of digital media assets. Upon upgrading to the set of digital media assets, the digital media assets within the set of digital media assets are made available to the purchaser. Typically, on upgrading from one or more of the digital media assets in the set of digital media assets to the entire set of digital media assets, the purchaser pays a lower cost than would be otherwise charged if the purchaser were to purchase the set of digital media assets in a non-upgrade manner. The cost associated with an upgrade opportunity can be based on prior purchases of digital media assets in the set of digital media assets. The cost associated with an upgrade opportunity can also be dynamically adjusted if other digital media assets in the set of digital media assets are subsequently purchased.

    摘要: An apparatus, method, and machine-readable medium are described for managing data within a friend service. In one embodiment, a key/value data store can be used to provide an efficient and highly-scalable friend service database. Various techniques can be used to ensure data consistency between friend service data records. For example, in one embodiment, operations are detected which require updates to a plurality of related friend state records. A key may be generated to represent each of the operations and then used to create an entry in a write-ahead log database. In one embodiment, each entry in the write-ahead log database may specify the operation to be performed on the friend state records. If the plurality of friend state records are successfully updated, then the entry in the write-ahead log database may be deleted. However, if the plurality of friend state records are not successfully completed, then the entry is not deleted from the write-ahead log database. The friend state records associated with old entries in the write-ahead log database are checked for consistency and inconsistent records are repaired. In addition, optimistic locking techniques may be used in one embodiment to improve performance of the friend service database.

    摘要: A robot having three or more pairs of legs can be walked along the surface of a space vehicle in zero gravity using a pair-wise gait of the robot's feet by which a clean-lifting adhesive fixes each foot of the robot to the space vehicle's surface by a pre-load force that is less than the adhesive's pull-off force. The gait method is to opposing legs of the robot simultaneously, one pair at a time. The legs are moved and then lowered back to the vehicle's surface and forced against the vehicle surface by a pre-load force. The adhesive provides a pull-off force greater than the preload force.

The desired microstructure is attained by heat treating the alloy at between 800.degree. and 1100.degree. C.
