    摘要: A method and apparatus for adjusting a channel quality indicator (CQI) feedback period to increase uplink capacity in a wireless communication system are disclosed. The uplink capacity is increased by reducing the uplink interference caused by CQI transmissions. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) monitors a status of downlink transmissions to the WTRU and sets the CQI feedback period based on the status of the downlink transmissions to the WTRU. A base station monitors uplink and downlink transmission needs. The base station determines the CQI feedback period of at least one WTRU based on the uplink and downlink transmission needs and sends a command to the WTRU to change the CQI feedback period of the WTRU.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for supporting home Node B (HNB) services are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) receives HNB access restriction information from an HNB and accesses the HNB if an access to the HNB is allowed based on the HNB access restriction information. The HNB access restriction information may be a closed subscriber group identity (CSG ID), a status bit indicating whether an HNB cell is available or not, an identity of WTRUs that are allowed to access the HNB, information indicating whether an access to a cell is barred or not. The WTRU may trigger measurements for cell reselection even though signal strength on a currently connected cell is above a threshold. The measurement may be triggered manually, periodically, under the instruction from the network, or based on a neighbor cell list including information about HNB cells located nearby.

    摘要: Since common E-DCH resources may be assigned from a single Node B, uplink macro-diversity may not be possible between neighboring Node B's. In addition, a user equipment (UE) assigned a common E-DCH resource may not be allowed to perform cell reselection. Thus, maintaining the assignment of a common E-DCH resource to a given UE for more than a few hundred milliseconds may result in unacceptable inter-cell interference, for example, when the UE moves closer to a neighboring cell controlled by a non-serving Node B. To overcome inter-cell interference and allow a more extensive utilization of the Cell_FACH state, a method may be used to detect and/or control inter-cell interference.

The WTRU may enter a region or a macro cell and receive offload area information of the region in which a small cell in the vicinity of the macro cell is located. The offload information may be received in a system information block (SIB), dedicated signaling, or any other radio signal. The WTRU may perform measurements to determine the location of the WTRU and to determine whether it has entered any offload areas. Upon a determination that the offload area information is no longer valid, the WTRU may delete the offload area information.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for acknowledge mode data (AMD) re-segmentation are disclosed. An AMD protocol data unit (PDU) is generated from at least one RLC SDU. The AMD PDU size is within a flexible maximum AMD PDU size. The original AMD PDU is stored in a retransmission buffer, and transmitted. If transmission of the original AMD PDU fails and the original AMD PDU size is larger than an updated maximum AMD PDU size, the original AMD PDU is segmented to segmented AMD PDUs. If transmission of one of the segmented AMD PDUs fails, the original AMD PDU may be re-segmented to smaller size AMD PDUs.
