    摘要: Improved photopolymerization initiator systems are comprised of a spectral sensitizer that sensitizes in the ultraviolet or visible regions of the spectrum and an N-aryl, O-aryl or S-aryl polycarboxylic acid co-initiator. The improved initiator systems are incorporated in photo-polymerizable compositions containing one or more addition-polymerizable ethylenically-unsaturated compounds to form compositions suitable for the preparation of radiation-sensitive layers in lithographic printing plates adapted to be imagewise-exposed with ultraviolet- or visible-light-emitting lasers such as argon-ion lasers and frequency doubled Nd:YAG lasers. Such plates are able to effectively meet the dual requirements of very high photospeed and very good shelf-life required in computer-to-plate systems.

    摘要: A positive image can be obtained from a positive-working element that is sensitive to infrared radiation. The element comprises an imaging layer containing an alkali-soluble reactive resin (such as a phenolic resin), an infrared radiation absorbing compound, a thermochemical acid generating compound, and a dissolution inhibitor that has acid-cleavable C—O—C groups. Upon laser exposure, a Bronsted acid is generated which then breaks the bonds of the C—O—C groups, allowing the exposed regions of the reactive resin to be solubilized in an alkaline developer solution.

    摘要: A micro-lens enhanced element comprises a substrate bearing sequences of printed image elements, each sequence containing image elements from more than one image. A transparent spacer layer is coated over the interlaced image strips. Lenticular lenses are fashioned over each sequence of image elements by deposition of a transparent layer of low surface energy polydimethyl siloxane based material and ablation of the same to create strips of material abhesive to a polymeric lens forming material between consecutive sequences of printed image elements. During deposition of a liquid lens forming material, the liquid withdraws from the liquid abhesive low surface energy strips to form a meniscus, thereby providing lenticular lenses. The transparent low surface energy material comprises a near infrared dye with low absorption in the visible range of the spectrum to render the material both transparent and ablateable by infrared laser.

    摘要: Aqueous alkaline developing compositions useful in the development of negative-working lithographic printing plates are comprised of an organic solvent, an anionic surface active agent, an alkali metal tetraborate, an aliphatic monocarboxylic acid, an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, a long chain aliphatic amine and sufficient alkaline buffering system to provide an alkaline pH. The developing composition is resistant to oxidation, highly effective in dissolution-type processing, able to effectively desensitize the background areas of the printing plate, and effective in enhancing the oleophilicity of the image areas of the printing plate.
