    摘要: Methods for molding glass and glass composites, including providing a first structure having a first surface, providing a second structure having a second surface, the second surface being patterned and porous, and disposing between the first and second surfaces an amount of a composition comprising a glass, then heating together the first and second structures and the first amount of the composition sufficiently to soften the first amount of the composition such that the first and second structures, under gravity or an otherwise applied force, move toward each other, such that the pattern of the second surface is formed into the first amount of the composition, then cooling the composition sufficiently to stabilize it, the second structure comprising porous carbon having an open porosity of at least 5% and wherein the amount of the composition is removable from the second surface, without damage to the amount of the composition or to the second surface, such that the second surface is in condition for re-use.

The glasses are alkali aluminoborosilicate glasses having softening points of less than 900° C. and, in some embodiments, in a range from about 650° C. up to about 825° C., and an indenter damage threshold of at least 300 g for glasses that are not chemically strengthened. The glasses are free of alkaline earth metals, lead, arsenic, antimony, and, in some embodiments, lithium.

    摘要: Alkaline earth alumino-silicate glass compositions with improved chemical and mechanical durability and pharmaceutical packages comprising the same are disclosed herein. In one embodiment a glass composition may include from about 65 mol. % to about 75 mol. % SiO2; from about 6 mol. % to about 12.5 mol. % Al2O3; and from about 5 mol. % to about 12 mol. % alkali oxide. The alkali oxide may include Na2O and K2O. The K2O may be present in an amount less than or equal to 0.5 mol. %. The glass composition may also include from about 8.0 mol. % to about 15 mol. % of at least one alkaline earth oxide. The glass composition is susceptible to strengthening by ion-exchange thereby facilitating chemically strengthening the glass to improve the mechanical durability.

    摘要: A hermetically sealed glass package preform is provided comprising a glass substrate; a frit comprising 65-100 wt. % of a base glass and about 0-35 wt. % of a filler; wherein the base glass comprises: about 0-5 mole % K2O; about 0-35 mole % Sb2O3; about 0-20 mole % ZnO; about 10-40 mole % P2O5; about 10-60 mole % V2O5; about 0-5 mole % TiO2; about 0-5 mole % B2O3; about 0-5 mole % SiO2; about 0-5 mole % WO3; and about 1-10 mole % of a metal oxide selected from the group consisting of Fe2O3, Nd2O3, La2O3, Ce2O4, Pr6O11, Er2O3, and CeO2; wherein the base glass has a mean particle size distribution of less than about 3 μm; and wherein the filler has a mean particle size distribution of between about 3 and 7 μm. The frit is sintered in an atmosphere less oxidizing than air at a temperature of between about 390° C. to 415° C.

    摘要: Photovoltaic devices having light scattering articles having a smooth surface are described herein. Glass frits on glass superstrates can provide planar surfaces for subsequent layer deposition such as TCO layers and yet provide light scattering functions within, for example, silicon tandem photovoltaic devices. Methods of making the light scattering articles with a planar surface include depositing unfilled or filled glass frits on planar or surface-textured superstrates and sintering of the glass frit. The compositions of the glass frits can be tailored to match, for example, the expansion properties and physical properties of the glass superstrates.
