Abstract:
For improving an adequate statement about the processing properties of granulated material to be added to unvulcanized rubber a testing device is used consisting of a support for the test sample, a wedge-shaped tool and a linearly acting pressure generator, whereby as support, bearing means for agglomerates are arranged on either side of the working plane of the movable wedge-shaped tool with bearing forces acting predominantly parallel thereto.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the determination of characteristic rheological quantities of viscoelastic materials by measuring specific parameters which permit assertions to be made on the properties of the material owing to their functional correlation with the deformation or relaxation.
Abstract:
The method is based on the fact that the particular components are conveyed through separate pipes into a mixing chamber. By measuring the transit time in at least one of the pipes the flowrate can be measured. The flow in the other pipes which is in a fixed ratio to the first flow is then adjusted automatically. For measuring the transit time a heat pulse is injected in at least one of the pipes and the transit time of the heat impulse is measured. The so-measured transit time is converted into an inversely proportional voltage and the flowrate in the other pipes is adjusted proportionally to this voltage. An apparatus is provided for practicing the method. The apparatus comprises flow measuring elements which are electrical connected to control devices which operate flow control devices in the pipes leading to the mixing chamber.
Abstract:
Flushable rotary gear pumps for delivering fluidic material, such as liquid coating material, may quickly and thoroughly be flushed of material of one type in preparation for delivering material of another type. In one embodiment, a valve selectively establishes a bypass channel between an inlet to and an outlet from a pump, thereby to accommodate a relatively large volume flow of flushing media through the pump and supply and delivery lines therefor. In another embodiment, the valve is structured to monitor fluid pressure developed by the pump and to automatically control and limit the pressure to a maximum value should an overpressure condition develop. In yet other embodiments passages are provided internally of the pump for conveying flushing media to all exposed surfaces of the gears, gear shafts and pump body to flush the same of coating material, whereby the entirety of the pump may readily be cleansed. If desired, the various features may be combined in a single pump.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a pneumatic tire comprising a tread surface and two separate side parts of an elastomeric synthetic resin and optionally reinforcing elements, wherein the side part not only forms the side wall of the tire but extends from the rim wire to the mid-line of the tire and therefore also forms the foundation for the tread surface on one side, and to a process for the manufacture of such pneumatic tires.
Abstract:
The instant invention relates to an apparatus for metering at least two flowable reaction components, such as polyurethane-forming components, in a predetermined ratio into a mixing chamber. The apparatus broadly comprises a metering unit for each component, which is made up of a piston and cylinder, a feed pipe leading from a storage container into the cylinder, a delivery pipe leading from the cylinder to the mixing chamber and optionally a return pipe, and a drive unit. Each drive unit is in the form of an electro-hydraulic linear amplifier which comprises a stepping motor for a control mechanism which is coupled to a hydraulic piston and cylinder, wherein the drive unit is capable of driving the metering piston. Control electronics are provided for controlling the metering units. The controls comprise at least one adjustable control frequency generator for generating signals to be fed to the electro-hydraulic linear amplifiers to control the movements of the metering pistons. A first signal path is provided for conducting signals to at least one of the electro-hydraulic linear amplifiers from a control frequency generator and a second signal path is provided for conducting the control frequency generator signals to all other electro-hydraulic linear amplifiers via an adjustable frequency reducer.
Abstract:
The instant invention provides a method for determining the streaming velocity of a streaming liquid by injecting a thermopulse into the liquid and measuring its transit time. The pulse is detected by its ascending flank at downstream points and by its ascending or descending flank at its point of injection. For short transit times, provision is made to eliminate the heat up time of the heating wire imparting the pulse from the transit time measurement. The liquid may stream continuously or discontinuously, and if the later, provision is made to delay measurement on initiation of flow until the flow pattern has stabilized. The time is determined by counting pulses from a pulse generator during the period the pulse is traveling between the point of injection and a detection point or between two detection points.
