Abstract: Various aspects provide a subframe for uplink (UL) communication in a frequency-division duplex (FDD) configuration. Control information in the frequency range of the UL communication may include channel quality indicator (CQI) and acknowledgement (ACK) information. The CQI information may be provided prior to a demodulation reference signal (DMRS). The ACK information may be provided subsequent to another DMRS. The CQI information may be time-division multiplexed in a common frequency range as the ACK information. A sounding reference signal (SRS) may be provided as an initial symbol of the subframe. Some CQI information may be provided in two or more separate portions that are each prior to a separate DMRS. Some ACK information may be provided in two or more separate portions that are each subsequent to another separate DMRS.

Abstract: Mobile originated and terminated data transmissions are discussed. Communication devices such as user equipment (UE) can be dynamically configured by a network to send and receive data. When a UE connects to a new network, the network can determine mobility of the UE and/or the network resource allocation granularity. Based at least on the network's determinations, the UE can be configured such that access data having a comparatively long life span is used and reused for multiple data transmissions. In some scenarios, access data can be refreshed after expiration of a period of time. Refresh time can be equal to expected life span of reusable access data. After UE configuration, the UE performs mobile originated and terminated data transmissions according to the configuration. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for efficient signaling between devices. A relay device initiates association with discovery broadcast signals to leaf devices. Each leaf responds with association request signals. After association, the relay periodically sends stay alive signals to the leaf, and the leaf periodically sends link confirmation signals to the relay. If either device fails to send its signal, link breakage is assumed. The leaf device reverts to uplink communication with a base station while searching for another relay. In another embodiment, the leaf foregoes association with a relay, instead forming a device to device (D2D) connection with a relay. A D2D connection is used when the leaf does not expect a link to a relay to be stable enough to justify the association overhead, or when downlink traffic is arriving more frequently than an associated relay is awake. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure provide for methods, apparatus, and computer software for transmitting in-band control information in a wireless communication channel. A control and data information coding scheme is utilized to reduce the block error rate (BLER) of in-band control information in various scenarios. A subframe carries coded control information, coded data information, and coded control-data information for reducing the BLER of the in-band control information. The coded control information and coded data information are mix-coded to generate coded control-data information.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for efficient signaling between devices. A leaf device initiates association with chirp signals to relay devices. Relay devices respond with keep alive signals. The leaf device selects a relay (from those that responded) and associates with it. Alternatively, selection of the relay may be offloaded to a base station. In another embodiment, an available relay device transmits a discovery broadcast to leaf devices. A leaf device responds with a chirp signal to the relay and association occurs. After association, the leaf device periodically sends a chirp signal and the relay responds with a keep alive signal. If either device fails to send its signal, link breakage is assumed. The leaf device reverts to uplink communication with a base station while searching for another relay. Downlink paging may be synchronized with the chirp/keep alive signaling. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate identifying peers based upon encoded signals during peer discovery in a peer to peer network. For example, direct signaling that partitions a time-frequency resource into a number of segments can be utilized to communicate an identifier within a peer discovery interval; thus, a particular segment selected for transmission can signal a portion of the identifier, while a remainder can be signaled based upon tones communicated within the selected segment. Moreover, a subset of symbols within the resource can be reserved (e.g., unused) to enable identifying and/or correcting timing offset. Further, signaling can be effectuated over a plurality of peer discovery intervals such that partial identifiers communicated during each of the peer discovery intervals can be linked (e.g., based upon overlapping bits and/or bloom filter information).
